ODI XI Selection Thread

Commentators are bemoaning the fact that India has posted very competitive scores and still lost.
Australia is playing their third rate bowling attack and not even bothering to play Khawaja who is the best batsman behind Smith at the moment.
Time that Dhoni and Ashwin gave it away and get some youth into the team. Ashwin gets wickets in India but struggles away from their spinner friendly pitches.

Yeah that was an amazing game, Initially I didn't want your mob to win, but once the wheels started to come off for India and you're lot saw the chink of light at the end of what was looking like a long tunnel - they went for it and I ended up gunning for them. India from Dhoni onwards were terrible - looked like village cricket.

Matthew Wade needs to be shown the door. His performances to date have been underwhelming. His keeping has been poor and he cost Australia the match in the final ODI. He just hit a six, with four and bit overs to go, all he had to do was milk the strike to Mitch Marsh who was on fire and make sure he got his maiden 100 as quick as possible. He must have known the kid was nervous and thinking about it. Instead he plays an irresponsible shot which resulted in his dismissal, and two other wickets as batsmen got tied up. By this time Marsh had cooled down and lost his way. I have also never seen such a poor Australian team in the field. Regulation catches for professional cricketers being dropped.

Sounds like Luke Ronchi for us... :thumbsd:

I don't see why they don't just give Nevill a go. Young Whtieman is another option but he's been injured this summer unfortunately.

He's garbage, unsure how he's still getting a game. The sooner he goes the better.

We'll have him back at the Warriors. :p

Nevill's not really a one-day player, can't see him getting a game in the shorter forms anytime soon. Whiteman is in the same boat although he is seven years younger so has plenty of time to develop that side of his game.

I did like the selection of Bancroft for the T20 side but his keeping does need further work. Another one they could pick is Handscomb who is sort of similar to Bancroft in that he is a part-time wicketkeeper. The only other option they've got is Tim Ludeman who has a pretty good T20 record but his List A one isn't so flash.

This thread also needs an injection of life. baggers here to do just that. Our 2018 ODI team is a bloody embarrassment. Smashed by the Poms at home last year and again last month by the Poms. The same old problem of being inept against spin is the major problem. There are no more that a handful of blokes in our current ODI team who I rate as spin capable.
