2015/2016 Barclay Shield Thread

Congratulations to Diamond Creek on winning Barclay Shield. Really can make this decade their own with 3 flags in 4 years now.

Does anybody feel so that maybe the 3 gf's won on the weekend get a little bit lost with the other grades finishing a week earlier? Time to have all Grand Finals played on the same dates again?

Th extra week gives the lower grade players who are also in the GF's the opportunity to see their 1's potentially win a flag which I think is a good thing for clubs. Also gives the 1's a chance to go down on the Sunday of the first week and watch their mates in the lower grades have a crack at the flag too.

Agree 100% - seeing the DC 2's blokes who have played their part in the 1's success this year being able to celebrate makes it a good set up.

You've generally been on the mark with your other rumours, so we'll wait and see what gets announced. His numbers this season were taking the piss.

7 Matches
567 runs
81 Average
3 hundreds
2 fifty's
Lowest score of 40
Highest of 134 in a tied Semi.

Wow

Still too good for that standard of cricket!
Be interested what the standard is. I heard it was around mid table Money Shield standard. Anyone got an opinion? Perhaps Riverside could get rid of a bowler for him. Cal Still made 500 @59 and took 28wkts @18 for Old Carey in same comp.

The Comp is twice our size. You wouldn't expect their 2nd Grade to be any weaker than ours (ie MS), and logically it may even be stronger.

The main question is whether he will adapt to synthetic wickets? and how much is that risk worth taking.

He played a T20 for us a couple of years ago, at our ground. After 5 overs he was not many at all, 15-20 max. He brought up his ton in the 18th over. When he was asked why he started so slow, was he adapting to the pitch? He simply said that the end he was batting, he would've been hitting into the creek, so he waited to bat up the other end.

I think he'll go ok.

Would've thought you might make him an offer Vinnie?

Doesn't want to be paid is the word from Diamo, plugs his business through sports clubs, gets his $$ that way, some sort of personal insurance. Runs are runs any club woukd jump at him. But cal's cino from the mouth of the previous cap coach is pretty average.hasnt signed yet though so everyone should be offering him something brutal even you guys ;)

If it comes to a bidding war, you blokes might have us covered. Especially with the 20k you offers Shan Malone last season. Might have to talk to our college contacts and negotiate something

Maybe Fitz-Doncaster will give him a kickback when he starts directing DCs talented juniors there rather than the traditional Northcote & Carlton.
