Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Heys guys! I played 4 games of cricket, 2 on saturday and 2 on sunday. The first game on saturday (u15's districts) we batted first: the first 6 guys got out, making 90 runs. so we were 6/90 when i came in. I made 35 and put on a 63 run partnership (another 50+ partnership and another 30 for me) and we got bowled out for 150 odd off 42 overs. Then we bowled them out for 90, since their batting order conisisted of about only 4 guys who could bat. O bowled 3 maidens, but my last 3 overs we loose. but we still won!

The second game was fourth graders, where we bowled them out for 90. I bowled three over 0/9. It would have been funny if i was playing with my brother, but he plays third grade. We batted and a guy called campo got 160 odd, another dude got 60, then another go 30. I didnt get to bat because campo (who was captain) declared on 258, looking for the outright win. During tea, i stuffed 20 spring rolls in my pocket and ate lots. Anyway, for the first 40 overs (its an 80 over innings), we only got like two wickets, but then steve (who made 60 when batting) got a seven for? idk....... anyway i caught their n.10 batsman and we got the outright win.

The 1st 20 20 on sunday: the opposition batted first and got 90 and i got a wicket bowling a half tracker. They scored 90. I came in and got out for 3, hitting a supposed no ball aimed at my head to point. Anyway, we chased their total easily.

The second game the chased again. they got 130 odd. we were 9/30 when i came back in. I made 21 not out, with dan and jack and we lost by 50 runs.

Well i may as well include the 20 20 we had today. We were 3rd on the ladder, so we didnt make it to finals but we played the third team on the ladder from a different division. Anyway, we batted first ( i was captain) and jack and i got 30 off 6 overs, i made 11 not out. Then four off our players got 50 in the last 5 overs and we finished on 130-150. We bowled real tight, and fielded well altho our keeper let through some byes. I bowled and maiden, then i got a wicket by pitching it a bit far outside off the got a nick. They only made 90 and we won!

So on Saturday, you played either a 45 or 50 over game (maybe more) followed by an 80 over game. Meaning 260 overs of cricket in total, or 13 hours of cricket, assuming a very generous 20 overs per hour. If we add in a quick turn around between innings and 1 hour for various breaks, then if you started at 8am, you would be finished by 10pm at night. Is that correct?

I think that must be some sort of record. Did you have flood lights?

I believe you have misinterpreted how cricket is played here SLA. For local Associations Junior games start at 9am and usually finish around 11-45. Senior comp starts at 1pm and generally finishes at around 6pm. These games start the first weekend with one team batting and then the following weekend the other team bats for the same number of overs. Different competitions will have different over targets but around 35 for juniors and 80 for seniors is common.
The other item was that leftarmunorthodox said he played on both Saturday AND Sunday.
Many years ago I played 3 games on a very hot weekend (100deg plus), and ended up fielding in all three games. I didn't feel too good by Sunday night.

Ah yes. The stupidest way to organise a cricket match known to mankind.

He still played 160 overs in a single day. That's mental. No-one should be playing more than 120 overs a day.

His team's score when batting on the Saturday morning would have been from the previous week.

Why don't you actually read what he wrote. He talks us through his own team's innings. He is clearly not talking about something that happened the week before.

You seem in far too much of a hurry to start fights and make sarcastic comments - perhaps if you actually stopped and read what he said before replying, you might look like less of an idiot.

Oh I love the relevance and maturity.
Let's congratulate the poor guy on his games and stop quarrelling and being pedantic.

I personally think 160 overs of cricket a day is too much, especially if you're playing the next day as well. I just expressed that opinion.

Neville is just being an argumentative bellend, as usual.

hey L leftarmunorthodox

Sounds like you are enjoying your cricket and doing great. And you can bat too!

Were they the large or small spring rolls? I guess to fit twenty in your pocket they must have been the small ones. I would be careful because having greasy hands isn't going to help you grip the ball.

Did the opposition really make 90 in four of your five games? Spooky.

I thought I should tell you about SLA. He is our resident demon, here to tempt you away from the sincere spiritual practice that is legspin-dharma. He will try to find fault with anything you say, and lure you away from the true path with his promises of easy wicket-taking and less practice. You must resist his appeals to such base desire, or you may even find yourself bowling off spin, or maybe even seam up. You have been warned...

What type of person would take the excited post of a 14 or 15 year old as 100% gospel. Who would take this post so literally as to believe that the kid actually did play 160 overs in a day. And who would sarcastically attack a young person about their post. There are only a couple of types of people that would do that. Either they are the biggest of self serving, know-all knobheads with the emotional intelligence of a pencil OR they are on the spectrum. Sadly in your case SLA it is probably both.

I didn't attack anyone. I just said that if what he said was true, then 160 overs was a lot in the day, and asked him if I had understood him correctly. No sarcasm, nothing aggressive, just making polite conversation and showing friendly interest in the lad's weekend.

YOU then attacked ME, going for the cheap laughs claiming that my maths was faulty, when actually it wasn't, the only thing that was faulty was your ability to read.

"Now your Maths is in error, If he played 35 overs in the morning and 80 in the afternoon that adds up to 115. Not sure how you got to 160. Are you an accountant?"

I've no idea where you got 35 overs from. The only mention of the number 35 in his post was the amount of runs he scored.

It may be that he misrepresented himself and he didn't actually play that many overs. Maybe he will come back and clarify this, or maybe he is too worried that you will ignorantly and erroneously take the piss out of him like you ignorantly and erroneously took the piss out of me.

"who would sarcastically attack a young person about their post."

You, it appears.

"they are on the spectrum"

and now you stoop so low as to use autism as an insult? That is frankly disgusting. Absolutely beyond the pale. You are a ************** disgrace. Honestly, we really don't need your pathetic trolling on this website. ******** off.

Huh? I just showed that in your comment you claim to be friendly and unattacking, yet you just attacked someone with profanity.

Do you know the difference between the past and future tenses, Chino?

"I didn't attack anyone." is past tense.

I think its completely appropriate and necessary to speak out against another user who openly mocks and disparages disabled people. If fact - I would strongly encourage you to join me in condemning Neville's vile and evil remarks about people with Autism. Will you do that, or do you think mocking mentally disadvantaged people is acceptable?

Oh calm down. I have autistic relatives and I wasn't in the least offended. I don't even think Neville meant the spectrum of autism, I think he was referring to the spectrum of psycopathy, if there is such a spectrum.
And no I don't agree with his remarks, and I also think it is necessary to adress people who disparage others, but using profanity and aggression are not useful ways to do so.

I'm sure Neville will be back soon to clarify exactly which category of people with mental health issues he was insulting.

If you don't like the way I pulled him up on his bigoted and bullying remarks, why don't you step up to the mark and pull him up yourself? As a community, we need to make it clear to him that his behaviour is not acceptable. Why is it always left to me to try to stand up for the vulnerable? Why don't you help me out here?

Neville. Apparently it is an insult to disabled people to compare them with SLA. I don't know why, maybe being SLA is worse than being disabled. But anyway, please do not disparage people in that way.
