Barclay Shield 2017/18

Right so 3 games will be 2 dayers and the other 2 are one dayers

Lucky for us boys as we were 4/30 odd
The rule is that if "more than 50%" of games didn't make the minimum of 20 overs, then the entire round is scrubbed that week for 1 day match day 2. I wonder what's happening with grades that had a 50/50 split, will they scrub the entire round of hold it to the letter of the rule and keep the 1st weeks result as not "more than" 50% of the games were washed out under 20 overs.
ght so

Well done Wanderunity, it's really not that difficult to write things like that, then post it. Although the DVCA seem to find it extremely challenging.

You should run for presidency of the whole comp. you'd get my vote, and BU already have a president in waiting to replace you. Blackhawk.:D

Calm down Tongs, I can’t take the credit. I simply C&P an email from the comp, but would have thought they could have done the same.

And the chair is a big one, but not sure it’s big enough for him....

great info, well done....however can never agree with a rule that 'clears the scores'. the weather will be what the weather will be, the 50% rule stinks, always has. This comp and other comps should be promoting playing cricket, not cancelling it or clearing the scores....if teams can get results where others cant, so be it

I don't mind the 50% rule, but maybe (and I'm only thinking out loud) an increase to the overs limit? Say 40 over mark would suit better. If you don't get at least half a days play in, then is it better to pull the pin, play a one day game next week with an outcome, rather than possible draws?

Thanks for that.

Some teams will be pretty happy with the outcome, others, maybe not...

I think the 20 overs is the right amount as far as constituting a game but I'd add to the 50% rule that once more than 50% of matches reach 20 overs then all matches in that grade will continue as a two day game. That way know one is advantaged or disadvantaged in anyway. Then it's up to the teams batting whether they can make a game of it or hold out for a draw. Everyone then has the same opportunity this week. I find that 3 games playing a 2 dayer and 2 games playing a 1 dayer isn't quite right(Barclay this week).

its farcical..it longs odd to happen..but you have 3 games where potentially 10pts could be on offer and 2 where no 2nd innings is allowed....if the game starts and is weather effected...leave it up to captains to get a result...is a draw that bad really? would prefer a draw than cancelling actual overs played.

It's not so much the 10 points compared to 6points. It more that 2 games in Barclay are garaunteed a result where as 3 games could play out a draw! Unlikely thou with the game situations but that is irrelevant.

It's fairly obvious that most people on here will be playing for their respective clubs on the day and won't be able to attend, but let's try to get around this cause and support them any way you can. Donate something to raffle off, buy a couple of tickets even though you cannot attend, or simply donate. It's obviously a great charity, but this day is that bit more important for Gracie and the Money family. Best of luck to them all on the day.

Have a read and let's try to support them as best we can.

Hope old paradians don’t get relegated. It would be a real shame.
