NMCA 2019/2020

The top 3 grades and reserves have 8 teams in each grade and play 7 one dayers and 7 two day matches. I think some of the lowest grades play more one dayers than two dayers and dont play every week. Top cricketers would not be attracted to playing one dayers or T20 every week. Maybe we could have several rounds where one dayers are replaced by two T20 matches on the day.

Given the “lower grades” are were a lot of juniors get experience how is that fair on their development?

Just recalling we used to have two dedicated one day comps but clubs appear to have lost interest in this format with both grades in recess in recent seasons. Maybe the bottom few grades could be one day and T20 matches only ??

This will be happening with at least the bottom two grades. Lock it in

So b grade consists of a club that won an e grade flag and didn't make finals in d grade the previous season...a side that didn't win a game in c grade and battled for numbers and two d grade sides both of whom struggled and 4 powerhouse clubs of the nmca 2nds teams.....so half a reserve vs d grade and e grade sides? Seems fair......

Surely those sides firsts will be competitive against 2nd XI sides, albeit from competitive clubs..

I would like to think they will. But it could also be over by xmas for those teams also. Bellfield would of been preparing to get relegated out of Kelly not playing against rivergum and rosebanks 2nds... I guess we will see how it all pans out.

Reduce the overs across the board to 60 in a day..(30 each in one day games).
People don’t have the attention span to commit to 80 overs anymore. And don’t tell me “it won’t attract good players”. If you keep the game relevant and time friendly, you might keep the good juniors already hanging around.

How many grades are there going to be? This talk of D and E Grade sides in B Grade sounds like 'the funeral march' is playing in the background.

Don’t be surprised if some of the D and E grades sides knock off the 2’s teams

I don't think so. All of the 3rd XI teams were competitive in D grade last season. These teams won't get near the top 4 from jika reserve.

Just saw a photo on socials suggesting two of the biggest ego’s in the NMCA on the way out to Heidelberg. Provided nothing in terms of performance last season and are all about themselves, reckon HT will be quietly jumping for joy.

I doubt any club that loses two first XI players would be "jumping for joy". Don't need two guesses to work out what club you are from fella

Haha sounds like it would take a few guesses for you to get the club right Shaneo. If youve played/watched NMCA in recent seasons you’d understand you don’t have to be part of that club to know the above.

Are you able to give a run down of the grades ?
