Dvca - How Do We Make It Better?

From reading previous comments, i think its time to do away with the one dayers across the shield grades.

10 teams, play each other once in a 2 dayer (obviously they become a one dayer if required).

Increase the emphasis on the T20 competition. There should be more T20 cricket. Maybe a T20 shield to be incorporated into the setup.

I agree with the two day part of what your saying but the t20 part I don’t I think the earlier years of the northern region t20 comp worked well but over the last few years player interest from decent clubs Barr Epping has dropped off a fair bit

Between full time work training and playing every Saturday I just think people don’t want to play the t 20s after a while even more so if you are playing finals and making it through the t20 stage for a couple of years in a row

I really like the 20/20s. Should probably start earlier in the season though. It's always good to come across teams you don't usually verse

It's played on a Tuesday night though, so you'd have been at training anyway. Plus for most of the playing group it's a night off to sink beers.

It’s more pressure to be there and on time I know I’ve had to pull out or be late because I’ve been busy at work plus a lot of blokes are tradies so could be coming from anywhere and trying to get to grounds all over the world place is a struggle it’s good they have started the groups with more local sides but once you progress i find to be a real struggle getting there and stuff just adds to drain for me and a couple of others. I’m not saying it’s a bad comp or bad idea I just don’t enjoy it as much anymore

I understand, but no one forces clubs to enter it. As long as there's good numbers then the comp will probably remain, if numbers dwindle then it wont continue. I'm sure there are a lot of blokes that don't play in it because they can't get there on time, but that might just give other blokes at the club a chance to shine.

Yeah it is good for players to step up love seeing blokes under 21 getting a crack I’m just saying going back to the original point of having a heavier focus on t20 for me isn’t the best idea but that’s just me if it helps cricket and our comp then that’s great I’m happy to be wrong

I personally think theres the ability to play some T20 matches on a Saturday. If you are bringing the season down to 18 Saturdays there is room for them.

Keep some Tuesdays if need be, but play the majority of the T20s on the freed up Saturdays from the fixture changes.

You’d have to keep the Tuesday’s and get the nmca on board as the t20 comp is played with them and ties into the kookaburra cup or whatever it’s called now that’s a lot of mucking around

Just a suggestion, since it looks like we are gonna get a shortened season, how about a epl style season where the team that finishes top wins the premiership and no finals. It makes every game intense that way.

Now that the NFNL has pulled the pin, cricket should start normally?
Also, don't agree with the EPL model for local cricket. Some of the greatest memories a player can have of playing local cricket happen in March during finals time.

The recent survey results indicated that 28 out of 29 responses showed a preference for all one-day matches to be fixtured for the 20/21 season. One club did not respond to the survey.

Daily Overs

There were some questions raised in terms of proposed daily overs for one-day matches and the times of play.which may have impacted responses.

To clarify

  • For 45 overs, it is expected play would commence at 12 midday and finish at 6.30pm
  • For 50 overs, it is expected play would commence at 11.30am and finish at 6.30pm

Senior Finals

All finals will be played as one day matches.

In addition an alternative finals fixture has been proposed with 3 weeks of finals and the introduction of a preliminary final, as per the following format. This allows an extra day of finals cricket to be played and incentive for the team's finishing 1st or 2nd on the ladder.

Semi Finals

1 v 2 (Winner straight into grand final, Loser in preliminary final)

3 v 4

Preliminary Final

(Loser of 1 v 2) V (Winner of 3 v 4)

Grand Final

(Winner of 1 v 2 Semi Final) v (Winner of preliminary final)

Looks like a pretty good format.

my only question would be, why would you both with a 45 over match?

push it to the 50 or leave it at the 40.

I’m a bit confused about the times.

We used to play 80 overs in a day - 1pm to 6pm.

Yet now we will play an extra 90 minutes and bowl an extra 10 overs? Or an extra 120 minutes for an 20 overs?

Is the Wuhan virus hoax going to cause everyone to dawdle in the field all day?
