VTCA Season 2019/20

Your seriously expecting Jason Baker to play for free? No one at he's level plays for free. I'm sure he accepted less money at he's local club then he could have got elsewhere. He played all last year and obvouisly this year for whatever reason it didn't work out. I don't for a second think that any local cricketer let alone one of he's standing would start a season without the intent to finish it. I also don't think any clubs are paying up front for the whole season either and payments would be made throughout the year. There's always 2 sides and you have heard 1. It's a shame it has ended this way.
Do you seriously expect to be paid playing 2nds cricket?

Most of the CSB got games on only a few washouts.
But the VTCA will still keep going unless clubs grows some balls to boot them out but I can see clubs being hesitant as Cricket Victoria have no balls and have there own problems to fix .
The problem is they keep covering up there own mess as they don’t give a sh!t about local cricket in this state unless your Premier Cricket.

Typical terrible ground management calling it off yesterday , as always they have NFI

Could have played on the pitch I prepared but it is just as well for the club matches were called off as it only covered 4 of the pitches on an 8 pitch table. Too much work and too heavy for the players to fully cover the pitch as required by the comp apparently. The players are so ignorant they think one person, me, should be able to cover an 8 pitch table unaided! Not even a sumo wrestler could do that. Many of the clubs in the VT are responsible for pitch preparation as Council involvement over here is not nearly as prevalent as over your side of town. I am aware this is definitely a contributing factor in pitches not being prepared in the event of adverse weather late in the preparation. After all, it is a summer-season only activity and the clubs' curators can only fit in curating after full-time jobs' commitments. I have a great deal of respect for the work voluntary curators do to keep turf cricket in alive in areas where there is no council curating involvement. It is my understanding the VT had no alternative but to cancel the round as many of the pitches were not prepared by the clubs' voluntary curators.

It's no excuse when the forecast was set early in the week , looks like the same coming this week !

Maybe a heavy fine by the VTCA, if the club is as slack as last week, will be imposed, if other games commence and at my pitch play cannot start because half the table is again unprotected. It is becoming very difficult to get the current crop of players to do anything around the club. The probability of them offering to become the club's voluntary curator is zero.

Anyone know why the Haig Fawkner v Aberfeldie match was abandoned on Saturday,vandalism perhaps,could be a vital 3 points for Aberfeldie in the relegation battle?

I understand play was not possible due to water damage by a burst pipe on the playing surface. Aberfeldie will, I guess, pick up 3 points they may not have otherwise

What's everyone's thoughts on the GF's.. See Exec has copped a bit of flack re: Semi rules , restarts ect.. I for one think it was a good call.

Best Thing would of been to call games off on Saturday morning and reschedule games for sunday. Playing games over 2 days is ridiculous for one day games.

Changing rules 48 hours before final is ridiculous as well.

Every comp seems to do it differently
CSB = no reserve day
Subbies = start again
SECA / DDCA = play resumes

Biggest mistake you can make is changing the rules 2 days prior

And what do the rules say in the event only one of the 3 days is completed due to adverse weather -- does the side that won the only match win the premiership or is it the side that finished higher on the ladder at the end of the home and away?

Anyone have any idea why Strathmore and Spotswood have transferred to the subbies? I seem to recall being told the president of Strathmore and the VTCA's executive did not see eye to eye but don't know if that played a part in the move.

No one gets on with the Exec in the last 10 years
