The Weather Thread

We've just had a hailstorm 🥶
Do you get hailstones in your snowfields?

I don't live near a snowfield, we don't have any in WA but I imagine they would at times. Hailstones do occur here on some occasions during winter.

It hovered in the mid to high 30's (38.8 degrees on Friday) but has cooled down in recent days thanks to the seabreeze. Back to the high 30's in the middle of the working week before cooling down again.

You have hailstones in Australia? I never knew that 😲

Yes, in winter mostly. Not often but it does occur from time to time.

It has been bucketing down in Sydney all morning. My pool is about to overflow. Waiting for a break in rain so I can back wash and reduce the level to below the pool rim.

We had hail stones larger than golf balls last year. Smashed into my palms around the pool throwing tonnes of debris into my pool. 😡

Sounds like hard work to maintain a pool Richie, I'd still love one though.
What does back wash mean?

So it reached 50.7 degrees today at Onslow which is a coastal town approximately 1,440 km north of Perth in Western Australia, the temperature there today equalled the hottest recorded temperature in Australia on record. Roebourne and Mardie also reached 50.5 degrees which is the equal third hottest temperature on record in the country. Four of the five hottest temperatures in the country after today's record feats were set in Western Australia.

Karratha also broke its own record today with a maximum of 48.4 degrees.
