Dr Wellam to Dr Spring: The global leaders have evidently not come up with anything other than like us, top priority that their scientists urgently crack the protective shield code. It is a race against time and the ASA team will be working like crazy to make it an Aussie breakthru. It is imperative we return to ASA pronto. We crack the code and I believe we have the Martians beat, or wherever they are from.

The plane on which Dr Wellham and Dr Desau were traveling to Pine Gap was hit by the aliens while decending towards its air field then lost control and crashed front first killing the two pilots instantly, miraculously the scientists survived with minor injuries and managed to escape behind an outcrop of rocks. When they figured they were safe they made their way towards the US/AUST facility three km distant. The despairing site that met their eyes as they approached shocked them to their core as most of PG had been destroyed. Thankfully the aliens had left and then the two found to their astonishment that the ASA lab tho partially damaged was still operational with all pertinent equipment needed for the scientists experiments still in tact. There had been divine intervention on this day...

Peter and his assistants were mostly spared the unsuspected carnage at Pine Gap.

As they were searching for survivors Peter saw two bedraggled people walking towards the base. It was Richie and Jenevieve..

Wellam: How stupid of me. In all the ensuing chaos after the first attack in the dunes I had clean forgotten about that. Once Digger and Turnball locate them have one transported to ASA asap. If Jen and I can ascertain how the dome shield works we have the best chance of stopping the aliens. Meanwhile we will do some calculations here.

Peter if the alien ship is still operational, shield included, do you think you could get it started. What a way to turn the invasion back on the actual invaders. All we need is a clear path so hopefully the aliens have moved on. Contact Col. Dunning by sat fone and have him arrange the transportation and find out where the aliens were last seen.

Digger Reeves, Sergeant at Arms Turnbull, tough Corporal Blunt and Lieutenant Senior Medic Ley eventually found the first of two downed alien space ships. Cracked in halve with internal explosions making it a molten mess. No activity, so they explored the molten wreck which was fruitless but Ley picked up low levels of radiation while Digger found more of those very dense black nodules with his metal detector. This time he put them into a lead lined box also being radioactive.

Using 2 drones Ley and Turnbull located the second downed alien space ship 7km east of them. Pics and clips from the controlled drones showed the damage wasn't too severe, and a blurry image of a motionless and prone body face down outside the smouldering craft.

Sgt Turnbull talked to Col Dunning on the now crackling satelite phone. Dunning said "proceed with caution and stay in constant touch. I'll get professers Wellam, Spring and Desau to join us in a live conference call.
Even our Chinook helicopters can only lift 15t safely so I'll consider alternatives for the craft's retrieval. Proceed very carefully."

During the conference call to Dunning, Wellham impressed on the colonel that it was imperative the craft arrives at ASA post haste.

Wellham: I am confident that I have the solution to the protective dome colonel but I need to experiment inside the craft. This is a huge long shot but if you and your men can enter the craft and operate it, no transport problem. Meanwhile we have some more calculations to do.

Dunning: I'll get onto it pronto professor and be back to you asap. Roger and out....

Sorry it's a long post Craig but it's a pivotal scene in our story.
Please jump in with Satelite phone advice and even do the exploration of the Craft and its recovery. Play all the characters, mine included. And with you a Doctor and Professor of Physics, ... Spring the Dirt doctor is working hard too, especially cutting up and doing analyses on the exuded very heavy black nuggets.

With Spring's Landover well hidden 200m back from where Sgt Turnbull, Cpr Blunt and Lieutenant Ley were quietly scoping out the crashed Alien craft. Reeves stayed in the vehicle at the ready listening in on his satelite phone.
All was still except for crows pecking at what seemed to be a corpse.

Approaching the craft over open ground the crows flew off.
Soon they were looking at a strange looking corpse and an open ramped entrance which showed huge blast damage beyond, and blackened badly burnt corpses.

Blunt took guard as snr Medic Lieutnenant Ley examined the body while Sgt Turnbull took pictures and was still live on his satellite phone in a conference call with the Scientists and Brass describing the situation and the grotesque shape of the dead alien Ley was carefully examining.



"Apart from the feeding pecks of those crows, I cannot see any major trauma nor burns, just a green sort of vomit from its mouth."said Ley I've taken samples. God knows what pathogens they might carry. Look out for sick or dying crows. Shoot and burn them is my advice".
'Good' said Col Dunning, ' Reeves, bring the Landrover up, roughly survey the craft's dimensions and take photos of it.
For now proceed with the others into the craft. Be careful'.

"Then run your metal detector around the craft Digger, later when its safe to do so mate" said Dr Spring. "Gotcha Peter" said Digger.

Reeves took out his loaded repeat shot gun and battery powered angle grinder. Then he joined the others with a steely look in his eyes only to be stopped by Lieutenant Ley insisting he put on a breathing mask, tight goggles and a protective vest and a small tough shied. They all wore the same with a Kangeroo badge too. Cpr Blunt nodded his approval and on a nod from Turnbull, gave everyone a grenade explaning its use. "I have more" he said"if you want em." Explosive nitro glycerine and detonators too. Just in case, right Sarge?"
Sgt Turnbull smiled and nodded, "Blunt is our Master of Fireworks".
Even with a bag of grenades and explosives Blunt still carried a heavy two handed rapid fire machine gun.

After a painstaking two hours Spring found the entrance to the alien machine. They also found two dead aliens at what looked like the controls, quickly removed them then the Prof and Dunning set about trying to find a way to operate it, while Reeves, Ley and Turnball stood watch outside. Another frustrating two hours passed and finally bingo. Dunning then sat foned Wellham of their success telling him they were now on their way.

Spring was astonished at how easily controlled the craft was and at its top speed of 1000 kph he estimated they'd be at ASA by dusk. And at that speed it was almost impossible to see the level of destruction below them. By the time they arrived the Wellham/Deseau team were now on the verge of cracking the secret of the protective dome that the aliens used only when hovering, a fact they were later to discover. Then the body of the alien Wellham had asked Spring to bring with him was then unloaded and put in cold storage.

Before putting the Alien's body into cold storage samples and a biopsy were done with Medic Lieutenant Ley present. She pointed out the green ooze around its mouth. "Interesting" said Chief Doctor Hawkeye.
Ley continued, "One of the deceased aliens in the Alien Craft's cockpit had similar ooze around its mouth and non fatal burn wounds. The door had been opened and left opened which was convenient for us. I suspect by the dead one outside, this guy, left the door open.", pointing at the cadaver on the table.
We just walked in and with Spring's radio advice from Pine Gap Staff Sergeant Turnbull flew the craft to the ASA in the blasted Pine Gap except for Reeves and Blunt who searched for and found more of those heavy metal shiny black nodules before they drove back in Spring's Landrover to base camp to report to Col Dunning.
Digger had found more of those heavy black nodules that Spring and his team had been analysing the earlier finds with some interesting results".
Spring said to Wellam.
"It seems very likely the droppings were from a Fusion Reactor! Something elusive for our Earth's Boffins and highly sought after technology. Clean cheap endless power basically, unlike our Fission reactors.
I know you're very busy Richie, but you're the one most qualified to unravel the mystery of those fusion turds. Here's our research notes so far. I tentatively posit that in a nice atmosphere like ours, they can get lots of clean gas matter to fuse giving more power enabling those force shields, particullarly when aloft at speed. Just a thought."

Wellhan: Ltd Ley what in your view caused the green ooze as you said there were no other signs of death such as burning.

And Peter I know you are a respected geologist but what makes you fairly certain the black nodules are from a fusion reactor given we dont have any such reactor on this planet. And if what you say is correct about them attaining our clean gas matter to fuse and enabling their protective dome to be also used at a greater speed than hover speed then we are in deep crap if our findings dont bear fruit. It is now imperative that I inspect the craft now as time is running short.

Lieutenant Ley replied to Doctor Wellam, "I'm not the expert, that's Dr Hawkeye. I was just an assistant to him like others but I did hear him thinking out aloud that the Aliens were somehow poisoned by our atmosphere ... something like that. Anaphylactic shock? Dr Hawkeye is still working on that assumption I reckon.

" Richie, I don't really know the craft has a Fusion reactor, just hints of it seen with my team's Geology and Chemistry perspective, even examing its material with the Electron Microscope here. These are my findings so far. It's certainly a new element not on our Periodic table as we know it.

Neither am I sure about how those shields work, but a good test flight should hopefully reveal more of its capabilities. Gun it mate! See what she does.
Sgt Turnbull would be a good pilot given he's already flown the bird. He's flown lots of choppers in his time in the ADF..
An Engieer and Navigator too and je I'd advise and see if it can poop out more of those blaclk nuggets.

Ten minutes later Turnball had the craft in position and then Wellham and Desaur jointly activated the shield mechanism and sure enuff the dome appeared, then vanished as they deactivated it. All this intel was from Spring when they landed. There was mass jubilation with man hugs all round and a special hug by Wellham for his special French lady. Then the other guys joined in which made Jenevieve blush.

Wellham: People we now have the solution to stopping the invaders. The President and joint chiefs of staff have to be notified immediately, so Col Dunning needs to be contacted to arrange a sat fone call to the Presidents Canberra bunker with the good news...

No worries Richie, Ley and myself will be monitoring and recording your test flight by many means including tracking you by a small dish that wasn't damaged in the attack. Also take this German position finder too. So we all know where you go, you incuded, just in case..., and Lieutenant Ley wants you to take these oxygen masks, just in case,

We have identified its modulation frequency now we need to find a weapon that will disrupt that specific frequency field, effectively deactivating it.

Good thinking Desau, let's test it. That could be hugely efficient hitting their shields from a distance, similar to but better than EMP type guns that fry drones' electrics.

As you know in the context of theoretical and experimental Direct Fusion Drives (DFD) and similar fusion reactors, a "deposit" or byproduct residue is created from the master fuel (often deuterium/tritium or deuterium/helium-3) that is fused.

Wellham: We'll have to see about that Peter, after all the Vikings conquered then colonized huge swathes of land outside of their tiny countries. Their legacy can still be found in many global museums. There is strong evidence they also made it to America centuries before Columbus.

Peter come to think of it, an EMP weapon may be even more effective than LASER, with its high-intensity electromagnetic energy producing rapid electrical surges that can damage, disrupt, or destroy electronics, power grids, communications... pause, ...and hopefully domes protecting alien craft. By putting our three well educated minds together I know we can find the solution to saving our planet.
Then an Order of Australia is yours too Peter old mate. I will then recommend you for a Nobel Peace Prize as well. In fact we may even be given a bloody EARTH PEACE PRIZE. So lets get cracking three amigos and save our planet.

Communications became more and more difficult with the Aliens destroying many of Earth's communications satelites and towers. Ways were found to get around that using old tech ways. Even Morse code.

Many other attacks were on power lines, pipe lines, gas lines, bridges, roads, rail lines, power stations and equipment, Dams, Harbours, Air bases, War ships, defence bases, and ... generally destruction of basic and vital infrastructure. Civilians weren't attacked generally unlike Soldiers and all other military, their equipment, and bases.
Civilians were kidnapped though with giant long metallic tendrils with claws from another style of craft.
There was fight back from Earth's Nations with Russia destroying a number of Alien craft with tactical nuclear missiles. The US, France, North Korea, UK, China, Israel, India, Pakistan, Iran, even Japan and others followed suite which put the Aliens on the back foot, temporarily.
At least it was safer to defend Satelites with large nuclear space explosions towards groups of Alien craft trying to destroy Earth's Satelites. Less nuclear pollution on Earth.



Sorry I've been a bit AWOL lately Craig. Two good friends are very ill in hospital and I've been running around for one. Lot's of social engagements too as I just turned seventy on Saturday just gone. Two of my mates and me went to a nice pub and ate and drank too much. One was skipper. Sorry I forgot to let you know prior, my bad, but too many balls in the air, especially with a big gardening project with 9 Hydrangea cuttings that needed to be potted ... and five shade Giant Elephant Ears I transplanted from big pots with lots of rich soil and blood n bone.
I'm even thinking about installing French doors to that outside cool shaded area.
