The Lounge 2

Why the need for these additives, which are supposedly to enhance shelf life, taste and flavor, when we ate natural ingredient foods growing up and were bloody healthier for it.
1.Whenever something is possible, it gets done. Research and companies follow this principle because they hope to get a competitive advantage. Competition is the ultimate driving force.
2.Another reason is the wide-spread demanding attitude of consumers expecting all kinds of food to be always available. Neither side steps back.
3. Did we eat natural ingredient foods because we preferred it or because nothing else was on offer?
4. Were we healthier when the mortality rate was higher?

Another reason is the wide-spread demanding attitude of consumers expecting all kinds of food to be always available.
Fast food for example. The world has a lot to blame America for with this convenient but certainly not healthy food. Hot dogs for one were made with a mixture of high fat, low-grade and unconventional animal parts designed to maximize efficiency and minimize waste. Excessive saturated fat can lead to clogged arteries and heart disease. And the Yanks ate a hot dog almost as a staple food.

Try this Thomas. Even tho it is a Yank doing the expose.

I'm afraid this is not the one we're looking for. It's not about polluted food but it's an introduction to different articles offered in supermarkets. I'll try to dig up another on. The guy has picked up an American accent but he's German.

I did not watch it but figured the reference to bad and ugly food was what we wanted.

Australian-made hypersonic aircraft set for landmark test flight

Brisbane aerospace company Hypersonix is preparing for a groundbreaking, super fast flight that could mark the next step towards transforming aviation as we know it.
Hypersonix Launch Systems is counting down for the first mission of its SPARTAN scramjet powered hypersonic aircraft, which potentially could one day change the face of aircraft travel.
The flight is scheduled to leave rocket Lab Launch Complex 2 at the Virginia Spaceport Authority’s mid-Atlantic Regional Spacepor in the US on Saturday morning.

The Brisbane-based aerospace company has spent years developing a new class of autonomous hypersonic aircraft capable of sustained flight at extreme speed, range and altitude.
Its scramjet engine is fully 3D-printed, contains no moving parts and is designed to reach speeds of up to Mach 12 – or 12 times the speed of sound or 14,500km/h.

Brilliant Aussie tech innovation. Am wondering tho why Hypersonix is not using a local spaceport such as Qlds Bowen Orbital Spaceport. Operated by Gilmour Space Technologies, this is recognized as Australia's first licensed orbital launch facility. It hosted the inaugural test flight of the Australian-made Eris rocket in July 2025.

Did you find an equivalent video on German food?
Yes, now I found several of them but none in English. But that's not really necessary since there hasn't been any doubt that we virtually have the same problem. That said, if in doubt, I'd still go for German or EU produce 'cos several trade agreements, with the US or, more recently, the Mercosur agreement with South America show that both regions are even less interested in food standards.

Mach 12 is awesome. 14,500km/h !!

At that speed the plane could travel around the whole Equator in 2hours and 45minutes. Longer if ascending to High altitude that has lesser atmospheric drag, enabling great speed and range.
I just read the Spartan is made from Ceramic matrix composites as they are lightweight, with a high strength-to-weight ratio (even at high temperatures), high thermal shock resistance and toughness. The engine is made from 3D printed high temperature alloys.

I used the link for my post Terry.

I get a thrill patting my nation of its huge back.

Just read that Albo has told Trump where he can shove his critical minerals deal, saying our minerals belong to Australians. Evidently the Yanks wanted a bigger piece of our minerals pie, vis a vis to be our critical minerals prime customer. They also wanted to buy large stakes in several Aussie mining companies, probably a controlling interest. The US Dept of Defense (War) was heavily involved in the deal I read.

Candian PM Matk Carney is visiting Australia right now speaking to a joint sitting of Parliament about lots of things and encouraging stronger links with Australia. Trade and .., mutual support as part of a Coalition of mid power nations, together equal to the big Powers.
I like the concept but too many cooks spoil the broth methinks but I wish them well.

I would be more than slightly miffed if our Australia signed up with Trump's Bored of Pizza bulldust and disgusted if Australia should help the US in anyway with its illegal preemptive neverending war on Iran when the parties were ready to do a "DEAL" Similar to the one Trump withdrew from in his first term. Idiot!
We follow International rules and are hopefully happy to arrest War Criminals to be tried in the ICC in Hague. Trump too if it comes to that. Certainly others like Netanyahu, Putin, ...
Some are saying it's a Trump distraction from the Epstein files incriminating him ... That's highly plausible imo.
There's few depths Trump won't sink to, even starting a war with all the blood bath it entails, that's already happening, like the Girls' school.

Zionists did that. They are punishing the world for the Holocaust. Both are from the same play book but the Yanks need war for its economy. There is the difference.

Did you guys watch this.
I did watch it Craig and we're the Lucky country for sure.👍

I'm not keen the Yanks could have majority shares in ANY Australian company. They've shown in recent trumpish years they are not to be trusted. 👎🖕No way!
European countries, Japan, Canada, India, ... and many others would be better and more reliable investors.
That'd give Trump constiputin.
