The Lounge 2

I'm not keen the Yanks could have majority shares in ANY Australian company.
Not only the Yanks. I seethe when I read that an Aussie company has been taken over by a foreign entity. I dont mind even a capped 49% shareholding but I draw the line and so should our govt, on total control. I recall a few years back when Chyna wanted to buy the massive Kidman Cattle Station empire. Our true blue Aussie Gina Hancock (Reinhart) was having none of it and jumped in and picked up a majority shareholding in the company from underneath the noses of those sneaky Commies. I jumped for joy.

The worlds reliance on oil and gas is about to hurt just about every business and industry globally plus make tyrants even richer as war destroys much of the stocks of the Gulf States. Time to wake up and phase out polluting fossil fuels sooner rather than later and fast track cleaner and more reliable alternatives such as hydrogen, thermal, hydro and biomass power.

Well said Craig. 👍

Green energy is cheaper, less reliant on fossil fuels, ...

Not just a Green argument but more and more on the global scene, a political one with self reliance becoming an imperative, and time we Aussies got that rolling on with not just mining but also a lot more downstream processing. Imho.

As for Trumplands' motives, time we kept our distance like so many other Nations are. An illegal WAR of Choice. 👎

On a concerned side note our ageing Naval fleet is shrinking and aged, still needed around our region as well, not equipped well for Trumps's Iranian Hormuz Strait nightmare. Newer versions and mine sweepers are perhaps needed?
Persians are smart people and may well chase Trump's Armada out if the Persian gulf. Best we leave Trump to his Karma.

There's a new Aussie order for 'you beaut' Japanese built Frigates due ~2030. 👍
A much cheaper option than even one AUKUS Nuclear Sub.
A third of the usual crew only is needed for those new Frigates with so much automation. Best manned by teen game champions.

Our Aussies' Matildas play the brilliant Japanese female Soccer team tomorrow in the Asian Soccer Cup Final.
Japan is rated highly as favourites.
Sam Kerr included will play ... 🇦🇺 ...👏

Japanese built Frigates
Aussie built mate. Well 8 of the 11 and in your neck of the woods at the Henderson Defense Precinct. Also 6 Hunter Class frigates being constructed in SA to replace the Anzac Class.

In addition Aussie technology such as the CEAFAR2 phased array radar designed and developed by CEA Technologies are to be integrated into all our new and existing frigate combat systems.

I'd forgotten we're building most of the frigates. That's great!
Our Naval fleet is aging and Trump can get stuffed bullying us and others to clean up HIS mess.
Twice now Tramp's stupid actions have caused my Super to lose thousands and thousands of Dollars. He owes me!

What took place on your birthday Thomas, apart from ageing another yr.
Well, since we'd seen each other before that day I suggested postponing a party until my wife's birthday in early May like the Queen used to do. It was agreed. I thought about how I could help the British economy and ended up buying two Brompton P-Line folding bikes as replacements of the 21 y.o. ones which weigh almost twice as much. The shipment arrived yesterday . I underestimated the work needed to get them on the road, though.

Why did you wanna help the Brit economy over the Aussie one when we were more than happy to provide you with our Malvern Star brand of folding bikes. The extra shipping cost tho is a consideration

I had a look at your link to Malvern Star Craig. I liked the look of the Recreational Range 👍.
But good on you buying British Thomas.

Lately I've been thinking of selling my motorbike despite my love of it. I'm getting slower now trundling into my seventies.
But the idea of a new quality bicycle is tempting, and maybe even an e bike? I do need more aerobic exercise badly. Strength is still good with all my gardening. My brain is
slowing and aerobic exercise helps with that I've heard.
So I might get myself a new bicycle too Thomas.
Cheaper, safer and great exercise.
But what type? I prefer a more upright relaxed position, certainly not racing bars with my old back.

I went out to a local pub with two close friends on my 70th birthday Thomas, but before and after other friends and I wined and dined here and there.
