gillie smashed Pakistan all over the park in tassie
That'll take some beating. Awesome batting and I dont recall Gillie going into white ball mode like Trav who played some shots two metres wide of his stumps. Accurate full balls, (heard of a yorker) were needed not short rubbish one after the other. Just brain dead bowling.

A no brainer to have Travis open in Brissie as he has gotten into the Pommie psyche after his whirlwind match winning ton. But a word of caution, the ECB knows he is a hit and miss kinda guy so the move could backfire and he goes cheaply.

I don't think he'll open unless ussie is out with his back spasms or they might give Konstas another try.

What's your thoughts in terms of the bigger picture? I know here in England there's talk of reducing test cricket to 4 days and as I recall that's down to economics. People point to the fact that outside of Australia, India and England there's not the same enthusiam from the powers to be to put on 5 day games because their just isn't the support to fill the grounds? I noticed even at this game a lot of the seats were empty - you might be able to explain that? CA looks to be looking at a $3,000,000 loss on top of an existing loss $11.3 million according to the Guardian. When everything is driven by the bottom line these days, this isn't a good scenario surely The last thing test cricket needs is people shining a light on this and asking is this the way forward for test cricket. If McCullum and England insist on playing cricket like a bunch of 14 year old boys in a back yard in the name of entertainment even for a short term, McCullum and England might be supplying the final nails for the coffin that looks increasingly like it may contain the body of test cricket inside it as we know it?

There is some noise that regardless of his back Ussie may be given the dreaded shoulder tap..

I say keep Konstas in state cricket for a while to get his game and mind back to where it was before his Test debut.

Then by very few seats as read 58k first day, 55k second and Perth Stadium capacity is 60k for cricket. This is apparently the largest two day attendance for a Perth Test.

Evidently the ICC has now introduced 4 day Tests for nations other than the Big 3 in the next WTC cycle but I can assure you that CA wont be joining them and has told the ICC so. Reason no doubt is the loss of revenue from only four dayers as revenue is what cricket boards live and die by. Perhaps other than the BCCI. I expect CA were spewing that the Perth Test lasted only the two days and they lost an estimated $3m, this is on top of losing a whopping 60m bucks in revenue previous 12 months.

I questioned the sudden escalation of Josh Hazlewoods hamstring injury, now reading a News Corp scribe describing it as a ''mysterious injury'' too after JH had his first bowl yesterday since the initial injury was announced and only a day after reports he was out of the Ashes. I still say there is something fishy about this incident.
