4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Well, I thought this game started on Australia Day but it turns out I was wrong. This is the last game between the two sides with the one-day tri series which includes Sri Lanka starting up in February.

Some changes for both sides, Brad Hogg comes into the Australian line-up to replace Shaun Tait who had a poor game in Perth while Matthew Hayden replaces Chris Rogers as opener with Rogers only filling-in while the big Queenslander was injured.

For the Indians, Wasim Jaffer is out as India are playing five bowlers, that means Harbhajan Singh will be playing in this game. Irfan Pathan is now opening the batting with Dravid.

At lunch on the first day, India are 2/89. Pathan fell early for nine runs, nicking Mitch Johnson to Gilchrist behind the stumps. Dravid fell 10 minutes before lunch, edging Johnson but this time the ball went to Ponting at second slip. A pretty even session with both teams not having an advantage at this point. Johnson has bowled pretty well and India have had a bit of a subdued start.

Looking forward to the rest of this match.

Australia XI: Phil Jaques, Matthew Hayden, *Ricky Ponting, Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke, Andrew Symonds, +Adam Gilchrist, Brad Hogg, Brett Lee, Micthell Johnson, Stuart Clark

India XI: Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, +Mahendra Singh Dhoni, *Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, RP Singh, Ishant Sharma

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Sehwag out for 63, but other than that, India seems to be going along fairly well at 134-3

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

in trouble now Hoggs bunny Ganguly just went out to him again.
4/161
need to get out now either Laxman or Tendulkar out very early then were a real chance to run through them.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Big partnership between Tendulkar and Laxman, India up to 277-4

Tendulkar has another century and Laxman is past 50

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

India finish 5/309 at stumps. Tendulkar is up to 124 not out while MS Dhoni is 6 not out. Laxman was out for 51 after being caught behind by Gilchrist off the bowling of Brett Lee.

India's day on day one, they'll need to consolidate though to stay competitive, we all saw what happened with their good start in Perth.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Those 2 easy dropped catches really hurt Australia.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Wow, Tendulkar was out for 153, but Kumble and Harbhajan are killing Australia here. They've already got a century partnership!

India is 460-7

While the test isn't completely out of Australia's reach yet, it sure doesn't look promising at the moment.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Australia will be disappointed by really letting the tail wag here, 9/497, Kumble in the 60's.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

India finally out for 526.

After 16 straight wins, it looks like Australia will have a new streak of 2 straight non-wins.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Australia 0/62 at the close of play. Hayden was in his usual aggressive mood and made 36 with Phil JHaques making it to 21 at stumps.

They still trail by 464 runs on first innings. Once again, this Adelaide pitch has proven to be quite benign and it won't be any surprise to anyone if Australia bat through all of Day 3. If Australia are still batting at the start of Day 4, you would think the game will be a drawn one.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Great day so far for Hayden and Jaques, they've taken Australia to 158-0!

They still trail by 368 runs, but if this partnership goes any further, Australia will have a good chance to top India's score.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

I can't remember the last time I saw such a boring day of Test cricket.

With Australia on 3 for 289 in the last session it will take a miracle for anyone to win this.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

322-3 at the end of day 3

Australia still trails by 204, a sraw is looking pretty likely. The only way we're going to see a winner is if the Indian batsmen collapse for something like 200 runs in 60 overs in their second innings.

Shows how crap the Adelaide pitch is and how much of a road it has become. If you have two decent teams on this ground, you'll have a draw almost every time. The only reason we've got results at this ground in recent times is because Australia has totally outclassed the other sides who really haven't been good enough to contend with the Aussies.

The pitch needs a bit of an overhaul in my opinion and needs to be a bit more bowler friendly. I don't mind having draws, it's just this game has looked like being one from the very beginning and really hasn't been anything to get excited about. The pitch needs some juice in it.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Ponting finally out for 140.

He and Clarke have done their damage with this partnership though! Australia is 451-4, and only trail by 75 runs. They should have the lead before tea.

Clarke just got his century, and is currently on 101. The partnership between the two was worth a massive 210 runs.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

Australia were bowled out for 563, Clarke made it to 118 and Gilchrist, in probably his last test innings scored a quick 14.

Sharma and Pathan were the most effective Indian bowlers with three wickets, Virender Sehwag took two.

In reply, India are 1/7. Pathan was out for a duck, LBW to Mitchell Johnson.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval

India are up to 4/191. Dravid retired hurt with the score on 57 and then 13 overs later, Tendulkar ran himself out going for a suicidal run. Ganguly then fell to a catch that was referred to the third umpire, and then Laxman was caught down the leg side off Brett Lee.

Johnson has two wickets for Australia and also has the run out while Brett Lee is the only other wicket-taker.

India lead by 154 runs, only Australia can win this game now and the chances of doing that are pretty slim.

Re: 4th 3 Mobile Test: Australia vs India at Adelaide Oval
