Asia Cup

Sri Lanka through to the final with a pretty comfortable win over Afghanistan.

They're the only team that's looked pretty comfortable. Must be favourites.

That last match was tough on Bangladesh... Posting a big total but still losing.

I think their bowling attack has always been their weakness. Their fast-bowlers are pretty average to say the least... Probably why Sri Lanka is so consistent; they have always had some good fast-bowlers to match their batting strength.

Not so much these days. Eranga, Pradeep, Mathews, Lakmal, Kulasekara, all very, very average.

Mathews isn't bad for an all-rounder. They lack genuine fast bowling options though other than Malinga, fair to say even he has lost a bit of pace also in the last 12 months.

So Bangladesh finish last...at home in the Asia Cup. That's awkward...

Who's going to win the final? Sri Lanka's a pretty safe bet but I'm going to go for the unpredictable team. :p

Yep swept 0-4 at home including a loss to Afghanistan is pretty humiliating, they would want to fare better in the T20 World Cup. Final should be interesting, pretty hard to go past Sri Lanka with the form they are in but with Pakistan you just never know if it's their day can beat anybody.

So Sri Lanka win the Asia Cup, Pakistan batted first and hit 5/260, Fawad Alam hit a nice century with Misbah-ul-Haq and Umar Akmal both contributing half centuries. Lasith Malinga was Sri Lanka's only wicket-taker, capturing 5/56 from his 10 overs.

In reply, Sri Lanka got home fairly comfortably in the end by five wickets with 22 balls to spare. Lahiru Thirimanne got a century of his own and Mehela Jayawardene contributed 75. Saeed Ajmal took 3/28 for Pakistan and was easily the pick of the Pakistani bowlers but lacked support from the rest although Mohammad Hafeez didn't bowl too bad.

Malinga was Man of the Match and Thirimanne got man of the Series.

Embarrassing to lose to Afghanistan really in a home tournament, it was a game pretty much everyone would have expected them to win. Bangladesh were competitive in every game though which is something they can at least take away from the tournament, none of the sides blew them away and the loss to Afghanistan was actually the most one-sided of all four of their losses. It may have been a game they simply expected to show up and win but that didn't happen.
