I watched this yesterday. Just for the sake of it. But it's getting to the point where the squads are being tutored by the men when at training.
How would you feel if the women's t20's, tests, and odi's were played at the same grounds as the mens competition?
 
I hope that red ball experience is used when selecting the Test component of the Ashes which takes place from Jan 27-30.
Do we make a separate Ashes thread Renegadesfan Renegadesfan or use this for the T20 and ODI components and A matches too?

Best for the A girls were Georgia Voll (45), Phoebe Litchfield (36) and Heather Graham (25).

Lauren Bell and Kirstie Gordon with 3 wickets each were the top England bowlers while Alice Capsey (44) was best with the bat.

Aussie 'black stars' cruise to a big win in 17 overs on the back of a powerhouse 91* by Tahlia McGrath and 64* by skipper Meg Lanning. Along with her three wickets the South Australian takes the Player of the Match. Australian cricket now has two giant all rounders.. one of each gender.

Evidently a record chase too for a female T20 Int, makes the win even more special. Not sure I have seen a better counter attacking innings in this format than this McGrath/Lanning partnership. Backing up her vital three wickets, McGrath simply blitzed the England attack. Almost everything came from the sweet spot of her bat with good footwork, timing and placement. Was specially impressed with her spin play. She is a must for the Test....

Beth Mooney is on track to make a surprise return for the Ashes Test at Manuka Oval on Thursday, just nine days after undergoing surgery on a fractured jaw. So who makes the Test squad. I think we are one batter short. Bring in Redmayne for batting/keeping cover.
A piece of trivia. What two in that squad do not average @30 from 10 Tests between them.

Reckon England were pleased to see the back of Pez early as she has monstered them in the past in Tests.
The star all rounder has been dismissed only once in her past Test 1,016 balls, a period of dominance that started with her unbeaten 213 in the '17/18 home Ashes Test, was followed by scores of 116 and 76* in England 2019 and rounded off by her 68*and 1* against India earlier this summer.

150 partnership between Lanning and Haynes at tea. Lanning, specially is now freeing herself and looks far more comfortable. Dont wanna moz both ladies but will they finally post their first Test century?

7/327 at stumps. An excellent day of Test cricket. Have the Baggy Greenettes with noses in front.

Tahlia McGrath will be kicking herself playing at that wide last ball. Had a big one at her mercy tomorrow.

Both Lanning and Haynes teased that elusive triple figures.
 
Australia in the better position I think after the spot they were in earlier in the game although they'll be frustrated with McGrath getting out at the end of the day and also none of Mooney, Lanning, Gardner or McGrath going on with it after posting half centuries. England toiled fairly well all day, Brunt, Sciver and Shrubsole bowled well and probably could have had Australia all out had the team held their catches.

The pitch seems to be a decent so Australia will want a few more runs, 350 will be the absolute minimum they'd want while 375+ would be handy. Will be interesting to see how England go once it is their turn with the bat.
 
Agree Tj. State of play on the second morning and Australia has the whip hand imo. The skipper has intimated she wants to push on to at least 350. Yes 375 is more realistic as there is still some batting to come. Tho with some inclement weather looming, that needs to be taken into consideration re a declaration. The track has a good covering of grass and is good for batting with only the skillful bowlers able to provide challenging swing and seam . England has an experienced attack while Australia boasts a rather rookie one without Megan Schutt. Can any of Brown, McGrath or Sutherland swing the red Kooka? We will see.

An inexplicable decision to play at that last ball by McGrath as she had been in total control up to that point. Lanning diced with luck for a good part of her innings while Haynes showed yet again why she is our quiet achiever in probably her Test swan song.
 
Had have been better if the tail threw the bat and scraped a further 20+ rather than block and score only 10 more.

Pomettes in some strife at tea. No one can stay with skipper Knight who is playing a defiant hand.

Brown looks a touch too green for Test cricket. Far too many of her deliveries have been easy leaves.

Now Knight has a willing ally in Ecclestone, these two are now eating into our substantial lead despite us taking the second newie.
