Australia In New Zealand 16

He has the perfect role model, in his current captain. Who has transferred his short form game to Tests successfully. But will this dud learn? No. May as well have a cardboard cut out of John Wright there.

And next ball Guptill goes for a globe, man he's rubbish.

He'd be in some trouble you think. Guptill averages 16.94 against Australia with one half-century. The only other recognised batsman to have a poorer average (minimum of 15 innings) is Matthew Sinclair with 14.82, also with one 50.

Chris Martin leads all comers though with 1.33. :D

I wouldn't say McCullum has been successful, more adequate than anything else. McCullum will finish with a career average of 38.64 which I guess is okay.

Man does NZ need proper batting and bowling coaches, fielding seems to be all right though.

Seriously, how much damage has Mascarenhas done? Bond had Boult and Southee mowing teams down, Dmitri has turned them into Brent Arnel impersonators.

Guptill can bat when he knows what he needs to do, what the hell is McMillan telling him?

Time for either NZC to invest properly in elite coaching or at least encourage the players to get their own high level advice.

Smith needs to calm down players like Hazlewood...but he's just as bad sometimes.. They can sledge the opposition if they want but verbally abusing the umpires is never okay, especially when the correct decisions were made.

Kane Williamson brought up 4000 Test runs today. Fastest kiwi to do it. Hope he makes a biggie today.

Anderson has been very impressive. Never seen him so disciplined.

Nathan Astle was at the ground, maybe he could become the next batting coach..

Shane Jurgensen is coming in to replace Mascarenhas for the short term anyway. Don't really know if he's a good coach but he's been around a while and he's coached NZ before.

Is this short pitched bowling tactic Mascharenas' idea?

Must admit it it more exciting to watch than the old school top of off stump plan, but it isn't going to win NZ too many test matches when the decks are so good to bat on and there are no really quick bowlers to call upon!

When an umpire deliberately gives the wrong decision you have to ask why. Unfortunately for hazelwood he went about it the wrong way. He knew it with the guilty verdict.

Hazlewood was in the wrong, pleaded guilty, copped his 15% match fee fine - this is international professional cricket, the stakes are very high. Not really that big of a deal IMO.

Though if you listen to the Kiwi commentary you'd think Hazlewood took a swing at the bloke! Suggest the kiwi's may have been trying to deflect the attention away from the 2-0 scoreline.

The ICC have had plenty of opportunities to crack down on player behaviour over the years, and it has got to the stage where these outbursts are punished by a slap on the wrist.

A bit of perspective can't hurt - the ICC has just allowed a bunch of convicted spot fixers to play the game again (rather than impose life time bans), so an on field dummy spit is not that big of a deal IMO.
