Australian Politics

Steady on there Boris. You have far from the worst representation at the state level at the moment. Look directly south and dispair. Console yourself withthe fact that your state is not avoiding bankruptcy day to day on pokie money.

Haha bankruptcy is the least of our problems. Our state is run by accountants on accountants on accountants, kinda like a B Grade porno. Last week one doctor got a $4million pay-cheque because they are so good at their job.

Re: Australian Politics

Politics is the same all over the world, this sounds exactly like the stuff we're going through at the moment here in the UK with an election coming up in a few weeks.

Politics in Oz doesn't really effect the normal average Joe. 95%, if not more, still have to work 40-50 hours a week until they become old and decrepid. By 65 they may have paid the mortgage off. Therefore, with their 10+ years left as a senile being they will rely heavily on what super they have to accomodate with the umpteen operations they will need to push them to the end.
The rich are getting richer and the rest fend for themselves.
On the bright side though, one can be unemployed, have 4+ children and still live a better life than you and me.
Until politicians can make it easier to live for the average Joe, then politics to me aint worth a pinch of shit!

Yep reading this - it's virtually identicle!

Re: Australian Politics

Funny Fellow that one.

Problem is that we have been bankrupt for some time and have even started to auction off the state to foreign investors to try to recuperate some debts.

Well it's hard to know the state you are ever talking about.

If your state was truly bankrupt you would know it. No commonwealth or state govt has gone close to bankruptcy in our history.

For a guy who lives in Cairo, you sure know a lot about Australian and Queensland politics.

How many billion dollars of debt is every other state in?

They are all in debt and always have been and will be long term, they are goverments not businesses.

But that dont mean they are bankrupt, I'm in debt to the bank but i'm far from bankrupt.

Your talking queensland though, youse once had a flying peanut for premier so anythings possible up there.

Yes, I definitely know the difference between bankruptcy and debt, accounting is one of the few things I'm not too bad with.

Queensland:
-08/09 $1.6 billion deficit
-$57.7 billion in borrowings (expected to increase to 85.5 in 12/13)
-$15 billion fall in revenue
-Asset fire sale selling off the non-current assets of Queensland
-Despite the absolute crap budgets handed out the money keeps on flowing out into anything and everything

Who can beat it?

Re: Australian Politics

Uganda are a very under resourced cricket team but they are equivalent to an Australian State team and it is a passion of mine to try to get a team playing to their potential. Unfortunately I don't see this happening.

A state or commonwealth is never bankrupt. Bankruptcy only occurs when you own nothing and have debt. Instead they are as badly off as boris says (don't know current figures but still keep an ear open about things in my home state) and get worse as the sources of income are sold off to overseas investors.

Anna Bligh you disgrace.

Do you have some sort of official role with the Ugandan cricket team? How does this fit into your work at the Ancient Egyptian museum?

You could do what the flying peanut used to do, sell off some queensland islands to singapore. He took his cut and gave qld the change.

Re: Australian Politics

At least queensland got some change, with bligh they just get to pay more.

I have no official capacity with Uganda, just seen them a couple of times and wish I could do more. Sometimes in holidays I go down and have a look at the team. Not a great cricketer myself but i am an accredited coach in australia so it's better than what they've got.

Panic Stations !!!! the sky is falling in the land of the paw-paw and the piss-poor. Quick get Barnyardaby Joice on the phone, he'll know what to do, even though he is a newsouthwelshman.

Re: Australian Politics

not sure how that adds to the intellectual debate but it's too late for panic stations. It should have been panic stations 5 years ago. Not sure what the rest is meant to add but seems like a typical bogun speak by someone that obviously has the brain of a melbourne storm official.

100% bogun and proud of it mate. There are plenty of other blogs out there for political axe grinders such as yourself, why clutter up this place with your undergraduate, young liberals barrow pushing?
