Australian T20I XI - Selection Thread

Australia Twenty20 squad: Aaron Finch (capt), Sean Abbott, Doug Bollinger, Cameron Boyce, Patrick Cummins, Ben Cutting, Ben Dunk (wk), James Faulkner (chosen subject to Pakistan Test series selection), Nic Maddinson, Nathan Reardon, Kane Richardson, Shane Watson, Cameron White.

Is Sean Abbott related to Kyle Abbott from South Africa anyone know?

A year and a bit on looks as though there has been quite a few changes.
Time to tell Watson his Australian career in all forms of the game is over. Waste of space.

Watson and Shaun Marsh should be shown the door and let the next generation develop. Robert Craddock was asked how Shaun Marsh could be dropped after making 180 odd earlier in the season. He paused and thought about it and then replied with 'you can't trust him'. Hit the nail on the head. Same applies for Watson. He has made millions from an ordinary career. Good luck to him, but time to move on.

I think their experience in India will come in handy. Marsh has been one of the most prolific runscorers in the IPL over the last several seasons and Watson is also a proven performer there. I'd rather them in the side in India rather than Lynn and Head who are unproven at international level and have mostly played on flat pitches in Australia.

T20 World Cup squad.

Steve Smith (capt), David Warner, Ashton Agar, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Aaron Finch, John Hastings, Josh Hazlewood, James Faulkner, Usman Khawaja, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Peter Nevill (wk), Andrew Tye, Shane Watson, Adam Zampa.

Steve Smith takes over from Finch as Captain, and Wade finally sacked for someone that is far better behind the stumps. Personally pretty happy with this team actually.

This thread needs resuscitating. I am all for the continuation of T20 internationals. I am not for the continuation of ODI in present format. Too long and boring. Reduce to 40 overs. As for the current Aussie T20 side there are weaknesses in our attack without Starc and Hazlewood. Tye is a noted death bowler as is Kane Richardson but the younger Richardson and Billy Stanlake appear out of their depth in current 2018 tri series. Stanlake has potential with his massive elevation and raw pace.. Richardson is one of the most exciting bowlers to come onto the scene in a decade. But both need to bowl more economically in this format. I suggest a spell back in state cricket.

It is now 2020 and inconsistent mediocre performers Stoinis and Maxwell remain in the vital middle order. The selectors continue to ignore form BBL specialist batsmen and bowlers. Do you see England picking its Test attack in white ball. No they use specialist bowlers in this format. At least the dependable Kane Richardson is getting some game time in England at present. Someone like Andrew Tye or Dan Worrall would be far better value than Cummins or even Hazlewood, as would the promising Tasmanian Nathan Ellis.
