Best Australian Television Cricket Commentators.

Among the best Australian commentators, the two who come to mind are Mr Benaud, and Mr Ian Chappell. Mr Chappell is the most unconsciously talkative commentator, on television, and this is his most endearing trait. He always has interesting, well informed comments to make. In fact, I must mention Mr Greig, as the happiest commentator, when he is commentating. When, in his raptures, he goes on, "You Beauty", it warms the cockles.
Mr Benaud, is like Mr Gavaskar, which is, perfect as a commentator. Mr lawry, is another striking commentator, when what he sees, excites him. All in all, channel 9 has a grade of commentators, which is to be considered.

Re: Best Australian Television Cricket Commentators.

They're all pretty good in my opininon. Tony Grieg and Ian Healy would be the worst two. Healy has no idea what he's on about on occasions and Greig just dribbles most of the time.

Re: Best Australian Television Cricket Commentators.

Healy is a knob, he probably has more teeth than brain cells. Taylor unfortunately just spits out absolute drivel in recent times. For the most part I enjoy players talking about their past experience but Slats craps on about his own mediocre career far too much for my liking.

Re: Best Australian Television Cricket Commentators.

anyone but Bill Lawry and Tony Grieg.

Bill Lawry just yells and yells and doesn't really understand what he is yelling at. Tony Grieg just talks about i'm not sure what - generally just dribbling for the sake of dribbling.

Richie Benaud - while he's 1000 years old, he still goes alright, not the best in the box, but he still thinks about the game.

Ian Chappell is still damn good - fantastic thinker of the game as far as i'm concerned. Doesn't get the recognition he deserves really, he cops a bit of crticism because he thinks about the game too much.

Haha, Bill's awesome I reckon. Was watching that one-dayer on Sunday and Scott Styris edged Brett Lee towards Ponting at second slip.

As soon as it happened Bill started yelling "Got him!!! Yes!!!" and then the ball ended up going wide out of Ponting's grasp.

I thought it was hilarious. :D

i agree, bill is a gem. I don't like Tony though, not sure why, maybe it's his accent :p

Re: Best Australian Television Cricket Commentators.

I can understand aussieman's criticisms but IMO Bill is great, an absolute champion. Yeah, sure he talks a bit of crap at times but he seems like a top guy with a great love for the game and of course . . .Victoria . . :D

Have a look at Slater's test record.

On the TV - Bill Lawry, calls it as he sees it but excitement can reign supreme at times, also, cant fault Richie still. He may be getting older and older, but some comments he makes, purely on observation, can be pure gold.

On radio - nothing beats the giggling spinner, Kerry O'Keefe
