Australia - 1 Matthew Hayden, 2 Adam Gilchrist (wk), 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Clarke, 5 Andrew Symonds, 6 Michael Hussey, 7 James Hopes, 8 Brett Lee, 9 Brad Hogg, 10 Mitchell Johnson, 11 Nathan Bracken.

Sri Lanka - 1Tillekaratne Dilshan, 2 Sanath Jayasuriya, 3 Kumar Sangakkara (wk), 4 Mahela Jayawardene (capt), 5 Chamara Kapugedera, 6 Chamara Silva, 7 Farveez Maharoof, 8 Chaminda Vaas, 9 Lasith Malinga 10 Ishara Amerasinghe 11 Muttiah Muralitharan.

Important game for the series with the winner moving to the top of the table and it's Gilchrist's last game in his home state. Hogg and Hopes return to the Australian side. Unusually a coolish day in Perth for this time of year - only a humid 28 degrees.

Australia - 1.25
Sri Lanka - 3.75

You stole my thread!! :p

Yes, pretty important game in the scheme of things. The pitch will suit the seamers, bit surprised that Hogg is playing, perhaps they know something we don't.

Thought you would be on your way to the game ;)

And that's Gilchrist's hundred! Great controlled innings from the great man.

Australia now 4 for 182 after 38 overs, can really look to accelerate now.

Oops, extra C in WACA, from a Sandgroper too!

Sri Lanka on top of the run rate early chasing a mediocre total, but loss of wickets is a worry.

*EDIT* another one - 4 for 76 of 14 is a real worry . .

Re: Commonwealth Bank Series - Game 6 @ WACCA Perth

Sri Lanka need 73 of 48 deliveries. Sangakkara on 78 but running out of partners.

Re: Commonwealth Bank Series - Game 6 @ WACCA Perth

What an innings by Gilchrist!! Vintage Gilly as he help set up Australia's win by scoring exactly half of Australia's total, 118 out of 236. Clarke was next best with 45. Lasith Malinga snared 4/47 for the Sri Lankans.

After listening to the radio and hearing they only got 236, I thought that wouldn't be enough but on the way home I found out they picked up a bonus point!!

Sri Lanka were all out for 173, some poor shots characterised parts of their innings, Jayasuriya's was a shocker and Vaas' poor across-the-line slog wasn't much better either. Sangakkara was the top scorer and the last man out for 80. Bracken and Johnson took three wickets for the Aussies and Brad Hogg took two wickets on his home town pitch.

So, a bonus point win for Australia and that takes them to 12 points and also top spot on the ladder. India are a game behind on eight points with Sri Lanka are in last place on six. Each team has played four games and still have to play another four before the finals series.

An easy win to Australia, they won by 63 runs and unsurprisingly, Adam Gilchrist was named Man of the Match for his stunning 118 and also a catch. A memorable day to finish what will be his last game in front of his home town crowd and one that will certainly not be forgotten.

The next game is between Australia and India on Sunday and will be played at the Adelaide Oval.

A fairytale finish for Gillie. How ironic that he was jeered the 1st time he came to WA, but is now a legend by everyone, especially in Perth.

Which is unlike someone I knew for 4-5 years. I've got a new signature, what do you think of it?
