England In India

India chased down the 387 runs with 6 wickets in hand. Tendulkar scored his 41st Test century, finishing up on 103 not out. Yuvraj's test comeback was successful, making 85 not out in the second innings.

That was the 4th highest run chase in Test cricket history. A fantastic effort.
Fourth highest run chase- and really they could've kept on going too. ;)

Re: England In India

England dominated most sessions yet managed to end up on the losing side. I think Sehwag made up for it in just one session on the 4th evening. Had it not been for his innings I'm sure it would have resulted in a draw or a loss for India.
Tendulkar loves this ground. I think he has the most runs at Chennai but no doubt he'll rank this as his best innings over there.

That really shows you how crap england are
losing a test match in that position
Although, to be fair, Australia managed to lose a test in India after making them follow on. It's not the easiest of places to tour.

That being said, yes, England are crap! :D

Re: England In India

Broad replaces Harmison in the side for the second test. India have gone in unchanged.

India won the toss and elected to bat.

Currently India are 1/10 with Broad removing Sehwag early for a duck.

Re: England In India

Slow going by India. Just goes to show the effect Sehwag can have. Though it has been exaggerated due to Dravid's poor form. Dravid needs to make his innings count now that he has wasted the better part of 25 overs.

Re: England In India

Dravid needs time in the middle.

Maybe a ton here might keep the retirement hounds off him for a bit.

Worse form then Hayden.

Re: England In India

India 1/179 at Stumps on Day 1.
Gambhir 106*
Dravid 65*

India will have to really accelerate the run rate if this match is going to end up in any result other than a draw.

Re: England In India

Yes I believe Dravid is getting a wee bit too old and slow for Test Cricket, but if he makes a tonne here his confidence might soar and we might see him be the great player he was a few years ago.

Re: England In India

England are getting absolutely smashed. India are 1/309, Gambhir on 169, Dravid is up to 129. This partnership is worth 305 runs and is the best ever partnership by a left hand and right handed combination for India.

Re: England In India

India was dismissed for 453. A good effort from England considering where they were. Gambhir made 179 and Dravid made 136. A partnership of 314 runs.

For England Swann took 3 wickets as did Flintoff.

Unfortunately bad light meant England couldn't bat so India have effectively batted for 2 whole days for only 453 runs. Unless India can enforce the follow on this game will more than likely end up in a draw.

Thats why it will be a draw:p

Good on him hitting some form though.

Re: England In India

After bad weather delayed the start of play England lost a wicket in the first over. Khan got Strauss LBW for a duck.

1/1 off 1 over.

Re: England In India

England finish the day at 6/282. Cook got 50 and Flintoff got 62 but it was Pietersen who starred making 144 runs.

England however lost 2 wickets in the last 2 overs of the day to put them on the back foot. They still trail by 171 runs with only 4 wickets in hand. With 2 days left in the test India could still win with England having almost no chance of a victory.
