Yeah lets drop players who can make runs so Bell can be more comfortable

It was going to be either Bell or Collingwood to get dropped, Shah was always batting up the order and I belive Bell is better in the position Collingwood currently holds.

Re: England in West Indies

Well, play was supposed to start 45 mins ago but it's raining and the covers are on. The good news is we almost have a full capacity crowd and the atmosphere seems to be really pumping, a hell of a lot better than the almost empty Viv Richards stadium.

West Indies XI : *Chris Gayle, Devon Smith, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Brendan Nash, Ryan Hinds, +Denesh Ramdin, Jerome Taylor, Sulieman Benn, Daren Powell, Fidel Edwards

England XI: *Andrew Strauss, Alistair Cook, Owais Shah, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, +Matthew Prior, Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Greame Swann, Stephen Harmison

West Indies won the toss and will bowl first.

Re: England in West Indies

Early reports saying the pitch will be spicy. From the first few overs it doesn't look that bad but time will tell.

Re: England in West Indies

Harmison in for Sidebottom and Swann in for Panesar. No changes for the West Indies.

England 0/19 from five overs, Cook on 10, Strauss 9. Edwards has been dragged already and Powell will bowl.

Re: England in West Indies

well what a difference in this match 301/3 at the close 92 overs, a great 169 from strauss and half centuroes from cook and a lovely agressive one for shah too. Pietersen and nightwatchman anderson survived to the close

Re: England in West Indies

Good day for England but pitch is a worry - it looks dead. Need to get 500+ then have a little go at them for an hour or so tomorrow evening.

Re: England in West Indies

Anderson was out in the second over of the day, tamely edging Edwards behind to Ramdin.

England are 4/313, Pietersen on 18 and Collingwood on 1.

Bell is better even further down at no6, but untill Flintoff gets fit then it wont happen and he can piss off back to the Counties and try and make some runs, but Bell never makes runs under pressure. He has never been Englands sole centurion in an innings, thats a pathetic stat

Re: England in West Indies

Well they are now on what seems like the worlds biggest road.

England declared on 9/566

Collingwood made 113 and virtually everyone contributed to teh total.

West Indies 1/55 which Gayle being dismissed just before the end for 33.

Draw the most likely from here I would say.

Collingwood went on to make a massive score did he not?
Yep and it was his 3rd century in 9 innings

Still a chance for a result with the wicket apparently playing some tricks and England still leading by over 500 runs with 3 days remaining

Re: England in West Indies

was that the end of day 2 or day 3?
Haven't been keep track of this match.:(
and i heard it was 1/55, please tell it wasn't Gayle that went out.

Last I heard he was struggling to hold down his spot.

Only in the eyes of England fans who dont like him because he doesnt have the talent of others and his innings are usually tough innings so looks like he is struggling but still scoring runs

Was dropped after a shocking series v NZ but came back and has been brilliant

But Bells dropping has now allowed the Colly haters to come out in voice again and its all about how out of sorts he always looked and dismiss each of his centuries for different reasons, what they forget to mention is not every batsman can make runs every innings and instead of blaming him when we lose, why not go after the others who havent performed at all

Re: England in West Indies

1/107 after the first hour of day three. Smith has moved to 38 whilst Powell has done well to stick around and is on 16.

Can't seem to get a breakthrough at the moment the Englishman. Harmison is off the ground after almost throwing up at the top of his mark about 15 minutes ago. Matt Prior has given up 12 byes already and they haven't bowled 28 overs yet. In comparison, Ramdin gave up only ten byes from 165.2 overs.

Re: England in West Indies

Smith goes for a big slog towards long-on but misses and Swann gets through his defences.

2/116, Powell on 19, Sarwan the new man in is 6 not out.

Re: England in West Indies

What a poor display of batting from the West Indies. 285 runs on a road? Not acceptable.

Stuart Broad by the look of things bowled well. Flintoff did his part with 3 wickets. Harmison, as usual conceding runs. Swann bowled brilliantly and was rewarded with his maiden 5 wicket haul in test cricket.

As has been mentioned before, Benn needs to knuckle down and restrict the runs and pitch in with a couple of wickets if he can.

Re: England in West Indies

England don't look like they want to win this.. They need 500 lead to put the game safe. Ain't gonna be quick with cook and the nightwatchman blocking out overs.
