big loss, but is he being replaced by a better player ?? Or is Grantley stepping up ??

Not sure as yet, still got a few things to work out first. The plan is to get someone else over from the UK

cheer cheer to that. He did not set the world on fire on the field but was a top decent bloke. Check out his stats on My Cricket to see the season he had. I think AB may be used to playing at some of the weaker sides in the comp with little depth to have the luxury as some clubs have to be able to drop guys throughout grades ;-) If you are looking to limit the amount of interchanges made in the AFL then I would be thinking if you were looking at making limits on the amount of changes which could be made between grades then South would be right up against that limit with 7 pretty competitive sides !! Also with AB having the chance to bat on the South wicket in a T20 and making a big score then I am sure he can see how hard it would actually be as a batsmen not to score runs on that thing, lol.

Whilst checking Slatt's stats, not great, i also came across Geoff Young's......?

Wow. "Cheer Cheer in almost saying what he thinks shocker!!!" I wasn't really thinking about Slatts, to be fair, and SB do have form in this area beforehand...But look, don't get upset about it Cheer Cheer, and start having a go at other clubs. That would be very un-Cheer Cheer-like.The "weaker" club i played at played finals in the 1's and 2's last year, and whilst had a disappointing effort, still played finals..... With a few more bring-ins from otside the club, they could challenge... And yes, if you can't get runs on that....

just emphasing that if you don't have the depth at the club then guys can play turf all year around without having to make a score, you still might have a decent side. The trouble we have is that having so many players all around the playing turf level you do only get around 3-4 chances in some grades. Youngy averaged just on 20 for the season, started poorly, put in a 60, then put together about 4 20's before finishing miserably. By season's end would have been pushing down but with the 2nd XI line up settled before finals was not even considered.

Not sure about the "form" you are talking about in the past which was originally having a go at South, but from my recollection and I am pretty heavily involved at the club that none of the guys got a rough end of the stick. Sacksy went up and down but again you might need to see the Stat's on that one. Another top bloke though !!

Posting is getting serious, no smiley faces or thumbs up there!

Due to Cheer Cheer's misplacing his emoticon spirit, I decided to help him out:

I have seen Cheer Cheer with most of those emotions and some of them are pretty damn scary, especially the one where he gets a wicket. The sight of Cheer Cheer running at you with arms and legs going everywhere, Cheer Cheer screaming "yeeeaaahhh, c'mon on" at the top of his voice and Cheer Cheer jumping 2 metres in the end air as he lands on top of you attempting to give you a high 5 is the worst!!!! If anybody has been dismissed by Cheer Cheer, you will know what I mean!!!! He is the only bloke I know where his team mates actually run away from him when he gets a wicket. But you gotta love him!

hehe, he is not a Pom, so he is fine !!

Either are most Poms that play for the Poms as displayed again last night. So,when you think about it the ECB must have the same selection criteria as the SBCC.

Re: Geelong Player Movements 2010

Grand Final hero Yates is apparently heading back to Ballarat to play as what has been mentioned on their Ballarat thread on Big Cricket. Will be a big loss, a great bowling option and also a very dangerious bat when he got going. Not bad coming out to win a premiership in one season.

more of a case of us already locking in a UK all rounder from Hornet's current UK club, thus not being able to look at 2 overseas in the one side. Still might be a spot for this young guy in our remaining sides. The 1st XI keeping spot for South would be up for grabs between a few options from within the club. I hear that Linke guy had even contemplated the gloves ??

I'm not sure who this Linke bloke is but I was getting the old choppers attended to the other night and my dentist was running me through his plans to crack into the South Barwon first eleven side behind the stumps. Can't remember his name but can't be any worse than the Shannon Byrnes lookalike who takes the gloves in the South Barwon second XI.

South barwon is full of youth mate. the 1s mite be a bit older but our 2nds to 4ths are all youth comin thru.

ps. nice 1st post:rolleyes:
Yeah, would love to be a young bowler in the 3rds watching Bushy bowl 38 overs. Or watch Jolly play the GF as a specialist number 9. And I bet young Ross was delighted when you recruited the Ford brothers last year.

To be fair, your 2nds were younger last year than in the last few years, and all clubs have their ups and downs with average age. I just thought it was funny Brew was ridiculing Grovedale for something that South Barwon don't have a great record with. The 3 Fords, Hester, Hunt, Koliba, Morrison Yourself are all mature players brought in from other clubs, while Brew, Whittingham, Brad, and Darren aren't spring chickens.
