the confusion here is that subbies and premier are completly different. Subbies is a joke and should be scrapped. Top 4 senior div sides would beat ANY subbies team. 3rds/4ths at subbies is EQUAL to VTCA 3rds/4ths. Only difference is that subbies have non-playing scorers!!

Premier cricket is a step up, and juniors should go and play there regardless of what grade they play. Subbies is overrated, and no junior should go play subbies thinking its a step up, (unless if you home club is rabble - even then id go to a different local club).

Tony Dodemaide left Footscray United at age 15 when invited to Footscray Premier as a bat. They turned him into a gun bowler and he played for Victoria as an all-rounder. He then went on and played test cricket as a bowler. He had a beautiful out swinger.If he had have gone to subbies he would have been lost forever.

As for Subbies, unless you played Juniors for that Sub-District club, why would you? You don't get picked for Victoria from Sub-District ranks. Go up, not sideways.

It's interesting the V.M.C.U. points ranking declares that Subbies 2nd's, 3rd's or lower is a backward step in the level of competition
compared to V.T.C.A. Nth"B" grade.
 
A proposed rule in another comp worth looking at... Any thoughts?

Add new Rule 7.2.5:

If 80 overs have not been bowled on day one, play on day two will commence up to 60 minutes before

the scheduled starting time for play to allow for any overs not bowled on day one, up to a maximum of

17 overs, to be bowled (to make up as much lost time as possible).

not bad, but instead of this they should be looking at bowling and fielding restrictions in one day games.
 
and on another note does anyone know if the VTCA is any closer to confirming who is playing where in the south? We got told it would be sorted last weekend and still no word??
 
Apparently Spotty have picked up 2 Poms and someone from Carlton. Anyone know who they are and what credentials they have? Rumour has it Spotty has a full book. They could go alright this season.

If you have a look at some of the results for the 2nds mhsob from last year they were clearly struggling for numbers, they didn't fill a full side a lot of the time got rolled for 12 in one game off 7 overs so I guess it's a decision to keep there club a float. Clubs should be chasing that steve villani guy good player!
