Haddin - do you rate him as a keeper?

People seem to forget when mentioning Haddin missing the run out opportunities, that the man hit the stumps from ten metres away without looking. Don't jump on every little mistake he makes. The glass is half full for Haddin, not Half Empty.

Exactly this has become a Haddin head hunting thread. But until their is an adequate replacement their is no point in pushing his selection. Why do that when they will only put in a worse replacement. No logic there.

Haddin is talented. i think its just taking him a little longer to settle into the test team.

Keeping skills are solid. He is not the best nor is he the worst. Can fumble at times but who doesn't? He will be in the Australian side for while IMO

He is shocking at collecting balls that hit the ground. Return throws that land before the stumps and balls that grub when bowled.

AB DeVilliers looks a better keeper than him and he's just a fill in keeper for Boucher. Haddin's just not a good athlete, lacks power and needs to work on gloving those tough return throws.

I think haddin's strength is up at the stumps to slow bowlers but we don't have any decent slow bowlers for him to keep to currently.

How often do balls hit the deck and grub though ?
Once or twice per 25 overs I'd reckon.

Haddin is the best we have, and the best we will have for a while it looks like.

You mention the lack of quality slow bowlers .. I would rate James Hopes' bowling the other night as one of the better performances by Australian bowlers this summer. And he is usually pretty reliable. Haddin is good to the spin as he worked with MacGill for so long as he was never in the Aussie side as we had Mr. Warne.
