Hilfenhaus V Siddle
Who would you rather in the one day side?
Peter Siddle
Pros
-With Clarke out he is our best seamer, bowled great in the tests and improved out of sight.
-Moves it both ways of the seam.
-Australias only seamer in the side, Hopes is our hightst wicket taker and best bowler.
-Has a great bouncer.
-Has a good yorker.
-Been in great form for Victoria the this and last season.
-Has good pace.
-Has good bounce.
Cons
-First over or 2 can be a bit wayward but not often and he's mostly accurate.
-Just back from injury.
Hilfenhaus
Pros
-Has the potential to be a great swing bowler.
-Bowls a very good outswinger.
-Has good pace.
-Has a reasonable slower ball cutter.
-Has improved a little.
Cons
-Accuracy, doesn't often bowl consecutive balls in the same spot.
-Has a very ordinary bouncer.
-Has a very ordinary yorker.
-Bowls a fraction too short with the new ball. He bowls a seamers length. I haven't seen many if any edges from an out swing bowler which is very ordinary, he needs to pitch it fuller so it spends more time in the air and the batsmen can't watch it off the wicket. outside off to the right handers and straight to the left handers.
-Has been hit for a few runs.
-Hasn't been a great wicket taker.
My opinion is to have Siddle. I think they are looking for a swing bowler to take to England to swing the Duke so they are trying to get as much international cricket into him as they can.
I think he should go back to Tasmania and learn to bowl a good length and improve his line. He's not far of a real good opening bowler but at the moment he's wasting the new ball and the swing.
On the other hand Bracken is not bowling great but he's a proven star and he'll be back and get better.
