IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

Two of the losers from the first round of games face off here for a chance to get their records to one win and one loss.

Rajasthan were embarassed in their first game, thrashed by the Delhi Daredevils to the tune of nine wickets. The Royals batting was horrible and had to rely on their middle and lower order to get a respectable total which proved to be nowhere near enough to challenge the Daredevils. Rajasthan will be looking for a much improved batting effort to stay competitive.

The Kings XI's story was the exact opposite. Their batting was great but it was their bowling that was horrible. The Kings leaked 240 runs, the equivalent of 12 runs per over, a rate almost unheard of in any form of cricket. In reply, they scored 4/207 but it was still well short of their target. Their bowling will need to improve if they want to start winng games.

This match looks to be a promising encounter, two teams with a lot to prove after succumbing to defeat in the first round of games. Both the Royals and the Kings XI will be aiming to get their win-loss record back to an even keel.

The Kings have started quickly but have lost two wickets doing so. They're 2/59 after seven overs. Goel was out to Munaf Patel for 26 with Shane Warne taking his first wicket of the tournament, Kumar Sangakkara caught and bowled for 20 off only eight balls.

James Hopes is not out on 12.

Salunkhe gets Mahela Jayawardene cheaply for two, stumped by Pakistani wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal. Shane Warne shows he still has it still has it! Warne traps James Hopes LBW with the offspinner, he has 2/11 off three overs, great bowling by the leg-spinner.

Punjab are 4/97 in the 12th over, Yuvraj Singh is 23 not out off 15 balls.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Warne gets another. Traps Yuvraj LBW, tries to sweep but is beaten by a flighted delivery and is hit on the back leg.

5/136 in the 17th over.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Oh and Trivedi gets Pathan!! Pathan goes for a massive swipe but misses and Trivedi hits and hits leg stump well.

6/136 in the 18th over.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Gone!! Brett Lee is out for a duck!! Lee tries to upper cut but only succeeds in edging to Kamran Akmal.

7/136 now and in a bit of trouble.

Sohal is out, smashed to backward point but the throw was too good and Kamran Akmal breaks the stumps with a clever piece of work with Sohal out by a fair way.

8/149 after 19 overs.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Kings XI Punjab finish up on 8/166 from their 20 overs. Young Piyush Chawla played a late cameo, scoring 24 not out off only 11 balls. Chawla's innings included four 4's.

Top score was Yuvraj Singh with an important 57 not out from 34 deliveries. Goel's ealry 26 was good enough for second top score.

For the bowlers, it was Warne who starred with three wickets, Siddharth Trivedi was the other multiple wicket-taker with 2/25 off four overs.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Not a good start for the Royals, Mohammad Kaif, opening the innings is out for five. Kaif tries to drive on the up but he succeeds in givng Sangakkara another catch.

Sreesanth the wicket-taker is very happy with his efforts.

1/6 in the 2nd over.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Irfan Pathan gives his half-brother Yusuf, A life!! Yusuf goes for a big drive but doesn't connect and drives straight ot Irfan but he drops it!! Not godo fielding there.

1/8 in the second over. I only just found out that Yusuf and Irfan Pathan are related, even if they are only half-brothers.

Can anyone shed more light on the two Pathans?

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Lee strikes!! Yusuf tries to play the ball over square leg but gives Lee a return catch.

The Royals are 2/19 now in the 3rd over.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Sharp catch from Chawla, he stretches to out on front to his left and takes a nice catch, not easy those ones coming forward. His catch dismisses Kamran Akmal and gives Hopes a wicket.

3/48 after five overs.

Shane Watson still there on 14, he can hit a ball a long way as can Darren Lehmann, the new batsman.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Pathan gets Lehmann LBW!! Lehmann tries to whip it onto the leg side but misses with Pathan striking him on his pads. The ball would have hit leg stump.

4/99 in the 12th over, that wicket makes the game a little more interesting.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Chawla leaking runs badly now, 0/27 off only two overs, Watson and Jadeja are having a ball out there with boundaries coming think and fast.

4/142 after 15 overs with a further 24 runs needed off 30 balls. Punjab with the advantage now.

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

Great to see Lehmann having another run on the world stage

Watson finished off with 76 off 49 balls solid work by him to see the Royals home in the 18th over

How much are the Australians taking apart this tournament? Showing how much we dominate world cricket or how adaptable we are as players? Just awesome really

Re: IPL Game 6 - Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipu

I thought this team might have gone through the tournament without a win. A bit of vintage Warne helped though. Lehmann's howler in the field was a big of an egregious error though.

That was a shocker from Lehmann, maybe he's been enjoying retirement too much.
