MMVCA General Cricket Chat 2010/11

Looking forward to a high quality finals series in all grades. Quickly would like to say bad luck to West Coburg in B Turf played them on the weekend and they had won 8 in a row and missed out by the looks of it because of losing points due to red tape from the association. We know it's the rules but it is a shame logic never seems to prevail.

Cheers Bonesaw, yeah suppose we are unlucky to miss finals after winning 8 consecutive games.... we reckon we may have given it a good shake if we made it... but rules are rules, even if they are as harsh as these were for an oversight on our clubs behalf... guess it will just make the boys hungrier next year... great game at Kindersmith yesterday and played in good spirits.... great to have beer after the game as well ( this doesn't happen enough ) Good luck to all finals teams and watch out for 2011/12 for the Redbacks...we are on the up with our young sides...

A grade will be interesting this week with Glenroy playing St Marys,Glenroy the power side for all the season and St Marys up and down lately.

Have heard a whisper. Won't release the information yet but could be a big shake up in A Turf finals this weekend.

Doug is ok. He had a reaction to some medicine. He was back at the club today.
Dougie don't do that to us again!
Porco Dio!
Dio Cane!
Glad to hear Doug is ok. He always made a point of coming up to me for a quick chat at Delegate's meetings. Good bloke works tirelessly for Pascoe Vale.

Interesting statement all round, with a couple of issues being addressed tonight.
Will be interesting to see if certain players are able to justify their actions over the last couple of weeks.
Do the crime, you do the time and history says it might make the finals interesting.
History of twisting version of events and lets see if the association is strong enough or a puppet to certain individuals.
Serious allegations cannot be pushed under the carpet and if justified action must be taken for the betterment of the association.
We need to set a good example for the kids we have coming through the ranks.
In the end justice will prevail,we hope.

Interesting, what is this all about ?

OMO but tipping nothing will be done, as has been written, benefits certain individuals.
Like most was not present to witness anything, can only go by rumour of trivial & blown out of proportion to disgraceful.
Interesting to c which way it will be spun.
Which way should or will it go?
Trivial - waste of time. Disgraceful - no finals.
Benefit for future of competition or personal success for club.

If memory serves correct, was not this the same club these 2 lads play for drag a hearing out for 7 - 8 weeks last season to try & oust an opposition player for finals. mmmmmm

Well,Well,Well, the thread has come to life in recent posts.
Wonder if fact or fiction will come into effect tonight.
Plenty of rumours and versions of what happened going around.
Starting to sound like the St Kilda,Ricky Nixon and girl saga.
Plenty of twists and turns, who knows, but everyone has a opinion.
Play with fire and someone is likely to get burnt.
Good luck to all concerned and hopefully, the correct decision is made for all concerned.
Does break up the day at work and add a bit of interest.
Back to work

Fellas, fellas, fellas!

I think you will find the whisper is regarding St Marys may be holding an illegitimate place in the finals that could soon be passed onto Barkly St UCCC after some shifty work in early rounds with a "unregistered/registered at another club and played corresponding round" player.

Theres your bombshell.

I think Shifty work is way off the mark and dont be surprised if nothing eventuates.

Dont believe this to be the only bombshell as well and we will see in the morning if that is the case.

Certain league officials were under the impression that is was an open and shut case and was only a matter of going through the correct procedures...

Player in question to my knowledge did not bat, bowl or keep and was a sub fielder.
Could be not all that open and shut as suggested.

Well if St Mary's played an unregistered player they have to lose the points... same happened to us ( WEST COBURG B TURF ) and we missed finals by 2 points... even if it is an honest mistake they're the rules.... will be intersting to see what the outcome is....

Irrelevant... If he was listed on the team sheet then his impact is irrelevant.

Sorry for the blank post. People who do not know what they are doing should not try to post from a mobile phone.

100% correct pumpa. Team sheets are all that matters and if the player in question was a sub then he wouldn't have been on a team sheet and there would be no issue.

With regard to the other matter that all an sundry wish to tip toe around, my understanding is that an independent investigation occurred last week and until that is finalised then nothing further needs to be said.

And FOS, remember this weekend just to keep things calm. A man of your advanced years should look after himself!

Good luck to all who play across all grades. Wish I was out there with you.

Seems to be several incidents of late. At our game at Brearly an umpire (not mentioning any names) was abused for twenty minutes for all to hear. The allegations were quite disturbing... The spectator NOT involved with Pascoe Vale... Not good for the game...
