Muraliathran out of Twenty20 World Cup
Muttiah Muralitharan is out of the Twenty20 World Cup after sustaining an elbow injury whilst playing for Lancashire in England's County Cricket Championship on Wednesday. The Sri Lankan off-spinner walked off the ground complaining of a bicep strain after bowling 33.3 overs in the game against Kent.
The injury puts Murali out for up to six weeks. Dilruwan Perera is expected to be his replacement.

Bad news for Sri Lanka, they just lost their major strike weapon so it looks as if the quick bowlers are going to have to do the bulk of the work. There's no Malinga Bandara in the squad so that leaves the Sri Lankans without a specialist spinner. It looks as if D Perera, Jayasuriya and Mubarak will have to make up for Murali's absence.
