Was always going to be a tough ask to win when most Victoria v NSW games end in draws, although this will have a result as the Vics will throw everything at it tomorrow

Although Hodgey is a great player if the Vics were ever going to win or get close its the 2 at the crease that were going to need to do the hard work with both having big scores in the past against the Blues

We will most likely be ripped apart early with some dud taking 5 wickets and lose the game by 400 runs

I wouldn't go calling the NSW bowling attack a bunch of duds. They are better than you.

Which dud? Lee? Clark? MacGill?

NSW has a lot better attack than the pies the Victorian bowlers (with the exception of Siddle) have served up in this game. Third final in a row that the Victorian bowlers have failed to have any impact on the opposition batsmen, that would be a slightly worrying trend.

.

3rd in a row? Umm 3 finals ago we annihilated QLD

As for which dud, I was expecting a Clarke or Bracken or Casson to take 5 wickets as we usually gift wickets to crap bowlers

I think you're forgetting the one-day final in which you lost to Tasmania earlier this year because the Victorian bowlers failed to take the last Tasmanian wicket.

Don't forget that the last three Pura Cup seasons, the Vics have played in two finals, the one below was in 05/06. The other game you're on about was a long time ago, two seasons before that one.

Victoria 344 and 202 vs Queensland 6dec/900.

Queensland wins by an innings and 354 runs.

Last three finals have been three losses, the Vic bowlers barely had any impact in two of them and in the one-day final, they couldn't take the last wicket on a minefield.

Casson got four. :D

Pretty convincing win for NSW in the end. David Hussey failed to add to his overnight tally and was out in the first over of the day.

Cameron White battled hard for 57, Nick Jewell made 99 before falling LBW to Clark and Adam Crosthwaite made a nice 50. Some late order slogging added some respectibility to the scoreline but the Vics were too far behind and were bowled out for 372 handing the Blues victory by 256 runs.

Beau Casson was NSW's best bowler on Day 5 taking 4/128 and also a run out. The two Stuarts, Clark and MacGill finished with two wickets while Brett Lee claimed the wicket of Hussey.

An easy win to NSW, their international stars helped them to victory but they weren't as dominant as what some people thought they would be.

NSW are the Pura Cup winners for 2007/08 with Simon Katich claiming the Man of the Match award.

So, the Australian domestic season is over for another year, just got the district cricket finals to go before cricket is over until October.

Casson got four. :D

Having a team 9/131 is the bowlers getting belted around? Rightio then... Yeah the bowlers failed to take the last wicket, he was in for about 1 over, they did well to get close following the pathetic effort by the batsmen, then again if not for rain the Vics might have won

Oh our 3rd last final was the T20, I know you might be trying to forget it but we won :D And our last final before that was another one day final, not the Pura Cup final, which the bowlers struggled a bit but any bowlers would have bowling first on a flat MCG wicket

Sure we have had a couple of final losses, but every away team loses the Pura Cup final, NSW got smashed by Tassie last year, its all about the home ground

The one dayers are disappointing but the batsman failed there

Your bowlers did alright in the Twenty20 game. You can have the Twenty20 trophy, it all you guys seem to dominate lately, the "hit and giggle" cup. ;)

We might have won if it wasn't for Adam Crosthwaite's dishonesty.

Not always. I am confident the game would have been closer had NSW not put all their international players into their side. You could argue they didn't have as big an influence on the game as everyone thought they would but the pressure on Victoria would have been less had they been absent from the game. Victoria would have got a lot closer and maybe they might have even won. The trend lately is that the home team seems to be winning these games however in the past it hasn't always been the case.

It still doesn't excuse the fact that the Vics bowlers have been struggling a bit in recent times in these finals matches.

Like this match we're reviewing mate the better one-day team won on the day. If anything the rain helped Victoria that day.
Anyway, apart from the 1st day, where honours were probably even, the Blues have dominated this match. Nice way to bounce back after the hiding they got last year.
Performing well in the final will usually get the attention of the national selectors, and Phillip Hughes, Simon Katich and Beau Casson will be under the attention of them after their outstanding performances (Casson his all-round peformance).
For Victoria, Peter Siddle was their best player, taking 9 wickets for the match and doing his reputation no harm. Brad Hodge also did well, Nick Jewell was painfully unlucky not to get a century in the 2nd innings, while the dishonset Adam Crosthwaite (at least in ljp's opinion:p), showed his selection was justifed with only his 2nd half-century and a tidy performance with the gloves.
