No variations at all by the bowling in the last overs, no proper slower balls, yorkers, nothing to try and stop the flow of runs. The bouncers and slower ball bouncers they bowled were pretty crap to be honest and ended up costing us a few runs in wides.

Not a good bowling effort at all in the last half of the Sri Lankan innings. Siddle needs to stick to test cricket, Johnson needs to pull his finger out.

Smith injured his back while fielding by the way.

Just grim tonight, from the perspective of an Australian supporter. Doherty getting dropped after his excellent performance on Wednesday was completely bemusing, and it really showed in the Sri Lankan innings where Australia proved completely toothless when it came to taking wickets. Not only did it let them cruise to a generous total, but when the innings was called short at the 41st over on account of rain the wickets in hand ensured the DL calculation was suitably generous.

With the wet pitch and large total, it was going to be tough going from the get-go but the inability of anybody to get a start and the upper middle order slowing the run rate meant that Australia put themselves on the back foot fairly quickly. Nonetheless they were in with a decent chance probably until White fell for 35.

Once again a masterful batting performance by Sri Lanka, Tharanga the hero carrying his bat for 86* and ably supported by Dilshan and Sangakarra. The bowlers shared the honours.

Sangakarra won the toss and elected to bat, Sri Lanka are currently 3/27 in the 7th over. McKay is bowling beautifully, has taken all three scalps for one run between them. Hopefully this will help him get the nod over Siddle for the Gabba if Hilfenhaus is out of the equation.

Tharanga and Silva are at the crease.

Starc gets his second, match is looking pretty grim at 6/92 after 25 overs. Now up to Silva and Randiv to put something together.

EDIT: And Starc gets Silva, 7/95. He's really showing how an average bowler can use the conditions and, by bowling intelligently, be extremely dangerous.

All over red rover, Sri Lanka all out for 115. McKay gets the bag, Starc 4/27 and Watson the single wicket.

Australia 0/24 on the chase, and the bowling from Sri Lanka has been extremely messy. Wonder what movie Channel 9 will be showing this evening.
