No real surprise in the result, although fair play to Sri Lanka for at least getting to the 5th day (weather assisted or not).
They need to bring in Malinga and play all out in the 2nd test if they are to salvage anything from this series.

They need sangakkara but still the other top class batsman were poor too. I think the aussie will win 2-0.

Seems the right decision to me. The captain and the coach have supported him. Sri Lanka have already lost Sangakkara to injury, so they couldn't really afford to lose the in-form Atapattu especially after the poor batting display by Sri Lanka in the first Test.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat and are making decent progress.
Malinga is back in the team at the expense of Vaas - which is a shock as his was looking to win his 100th test cap.
No word if he is injured but it seems a strange choice.

Hussey is amazing. I am afraid what he will do to Indian bowlers next month.
I think Sri Lanka will lose again this match. Murali might not be able to break record because Australian batsman are playing him very well.

It seems like Jaques always falls after reaching a milestone. I watched most of Hussey's innings today and he made batting look so easy. Its amazing that he still maintains such a high average even after 18 Tests. Australia are in a commanding position in this match. They should look for a huge 1st innings score and win by an innings again.

Can't see any other outcome than an Australian victory at this point of the match, which is a shame considering its only stumps at day 1.
Another baffling selection by SL in dropping Vaas for Malinga. Why not get rid of Fernando or Maharoof?
At least Vaas should get his 100th cap on home soil.

50 for Clarke and I think that Hussy has to have his sights set on a 200 before the declaration.

I don't know, seems a bit of a waste. Jaques gets an easy introduction to test cricket and Murali is made to look ba. Crap selection by the Sri Lankan dudes, pick your best team not the guys you like the look of in the hotel pool.
Hussey is Brdmans secret child, I guess Ted hasn't told the truth. Will the othr one be as good.

I think Sri Lanka will struggle to make Australia bat again, or least have to chase anything more than 100.
Maharoof is out of the rest of the match and the upcoming England series so that further hits Sri Lankan hopes. Should mean that Vaas gets his 100th cap though.
