Subbies Thread

Yeah, I was going to ask the same if they were nominated in time. The selection panel is the same as for the representative games and TOTY, chaired by Paul Bain, and including a senior player from each of the four groups. Does seem a mystery that those obviously credentialled boys missed out, but as with any selected XI, it is all subjective.

We were the first to nominate and the email was lost and we received an apology from the VSDCA.

Very disppointing, but if you knew how many clubs actually do the right thing all the time you'd soften a little on the calls to 'follow up'.

I hope the boys get another chance to be duly recognised.

Some early predictions for the North/West group:

Plenty Valley over Ivanhoe. Hard to ever tip against PV seeing how strong their batting is.

Williamstown over Altona. Very tight to pick and could go either way, but think Sheedy will get some nice help from Gillard this season.

Melton over RPB. Also could be another tight one but hard to ignore an in form Mick Allen.

Coburg over Preston. Can't tip a side that just got bowled out for 46.

Werribee over Sunshine. Can't see W'bee dropping two in a row after a bit of an upset vs Yarraville.

Yarraville over Balwyn. Would have tipped Balwyn if Y'ville didn't beat Werribee on the weekend. But just really guessing with this one.

Kew over Brunswick. Kews batting has looked very strong over the first two rounds.

Agree with all those tips

Agree with most however think Balwyn will get over Yarra. Saw Murphy first hand and he is a gun! I reckon after two starts he'll be ready for a big score and Hailey has had two failures and will bounce back.

Some SE predictions

Oakleigh to get over Box Hill, Box hill seem to be struggling at the minute, they need to get some wins on the board but cant see them getting over the line against Oakleigh
Brighton to get over Elsternwick, havnt seen much of either but will go with Brighton despite being whacked by Ormond last week.
Ormond to get over Malvern, Malvern seem to be relying heavily on Jones to get the runs and also seem to be missing a few, Ormond should be to strong.
Croydon to get over Endeavor Hills, Croydon have been unlucky losing two games scoring over 200, I think they will get off the mark this weekend.
Noble Park should bounce back to beat Mt Waverley after an extraordinary loss last week, it must be said their batting looks a bit frail.
Caulfield will beat Kingston Saints, Caulfield once again look the team to beat this year.
Bayswater should do it easy over Moorabbin, Binners will be lucky to win a game this year, plenty of no names in that side that dont look like standing up.
