Subbies Thread

A timely reminder of exercising care managing covers in windy conditions was evident for all to see at the WACA on day 5. It was reported in yesterday's H/S that curator Matt Page was sent to hospital with concussion after wind lifted a tarpaulin and knocked him over.
On another topic, it was not so long ago RPBroady hosted a subbies finals match, yet, it fofeited in at least 2 of its teams in the final round in the VTCA before the the Christmas break and possibly in its one-day Sunday team as well, there being no results to date posted for that match. It must surely be concerning for the likes of Mitch Streiff and his dad, and others, to see their former club in such decline. I have no idea of the cause. I hope it can be saved from oblivion.
In another thread it was mentioned they have withdrawn their Firsts and Seconds from the competition, and will now only play a one day team. What a fall from grace.

I just read RPB's ad for a professional player for13/14 on page 2 of the advertisements page, they were going to be the biggest club in the free world, pretty sad

Anyone know what happened at Ivanhoe yesterday, match abandoned???

My mail is that the pitch was not ready for play at 1pm due to rain the previous day. Then, one umpire refused to wait around for further inspections causing play to be abandoned against the wishes of both sides. If that mail is accurate, you would hope the umpire responsible is permanently "rostered off".

Why couldn't the game have taken place with the remaining umpire officiating at the bowlers' end throughout the match? Anyone know the relevant bylaw?

As much as I think Caulfield has one foot into the GF, whose brave enough to name the final 6 for North/West and South/East?

I think after this round it will either become clearer or even more close in the S/E. Elsternwick v Box Hill, Ormond v Brighton, Croydon v Malvern and Balwyn v Bayswater are all 50/50 at the moment.

A bit easier to guess in the N/W, top 5 is pretty secure in my eyes, with Ivanhoe, Yarraville and Altona to fight out for the 6th spot.

Agree, I think Caulfield and Oakleigh will finish top 2 but the other spots are wide open, any of the next 8 could fill the last 4 spots. You won't want to finish 6th though as Caulfield have the flag in the bag.

In S/E I think Bayswater will hold their spot and Brighton will drop out. Malvern look favourites to win their last two which will see them in, think Brighton will drop their last two and get leapfrogged. Whoever wins this week out of Box Hill vs Balwyn, Brighton vs Elsternwick, Mt Waverley vs Noble will go away a long way to staking their spot. If Noble drop this game then they could be out as they have Oakleigh at Oakleigh in the last round.

Had a look at the T20 final yesterday, the game never reached any great heights for a final to be honest.
Rummans was the difference in the end, held the innings together and bowled very effectively, didn't even know he could bowl!
Yarra's younger guys looked a bit at sea,not sure whether i like the rule where you must play 3 under 23s especially in the finals ,its supposed to be a showcase after all and the best possible side should be picked i reckon, thoughts?
