The Lounge 2

Guys, I guess it won't be long until my Sari crosses the rainbow bridge. Not sure if she survives this week. Have had another miserable night. Might well be that the antibiotics she's been on don't work anymore. Will keep you posted.
Lost her at 7:30 pm yesterday (your time) , this late afternoon my time. 😔 🌈🕯️ Not sure if I can sleep now...

That is so sad mate. If she was in pain better to relieve any more suffering. How old was she.😥
Thanks mate. She was 14.5 y.o.. , a very good age for the breed, in fact any breed. She suffered from an inflammation of the womb (metritis), a common condition of mature female dogs, in particular of those without offspring, which, given her age, she eventually couldn't cope with despite the antibiotics.
What comforts me is the certainty that she was among the dogs that had the best life a dog can have.

Hi Craig,

I use just a little sea salt if any for my high blood pressure. 2 pills a day.
Why is sea salt better than regular salt?

Likewise I go sparingly with sugar being Pre Diabetic type 2 so I have to keep the weight off and and exercise. Few carbs too if I can. Lots of salads help.

I'm hoping to make it into my eighties, touch wood. I'd rather not linger on too long seeing the awful dementia my old father went through. That's a fate worse than death I truly believe. My old Dad died at 92 after a very sad decade of suffering, yet great advances are being made. 🤞

Lovely pics Thomas. So sorry for the loss of your lovely dog. I know how heart wrenching it can be being a dog lover myself. Dogs become part of the family and that bond is strong indeed.
Take care.

I recall you having the middle pic as your avatar. Sari is now in 'doggie heaven' hopefully happy and playing with your past dogs. Just like mine.

I'd welcome an update on your pets, Craig, Terry, and Zman. Craig, how have your dogs been doing? Dog flap fully accepted? Terry, what about your dog's incontinence issues? Do all of you walk your dogs twice a day? How long and where? How long can you leave them alone?

Hi Thomas,
My 5.3kg Chihuahua cross Kelpie Denny Is almost 13yo now and lives a comfortable life with me.
He was a rescue dog who'd been badly maltreated found wandering the dusty streets of outback town Karratha in WA.
Anyway, he's a very timid little dog and hates going for walks. Other dogs scare him badly setting him off running ... I've tried everything but he's an obstinate little fellow. I don't push it anymore.

In the mornings he bounds all around my home as I prepare his breakfast. He happily patrols my enclosed yards and is an excellent watch dog knowing friends and the sounds of their cars even.
One amusing trait of his is the way reorganises his sleeping bed to what he considers a prime place to keep warm and still see all about.
As for travelling by car, he's perfect, no big deal. Likewise his usually good toileting habits, and the wee accidents that still happen, once just a day ago. A friend called by and he got exited! I do try to let him out more and not to pee on my clothes horse. I praise him often and brush him daily.
He follows me about, even braving my front lawn a little.

Thanks a lot, Terry, for your update. That's exactly what I had in mind. It's comforting for me to read about your life with "our little pooches", as Craig puts it and which I hesitate to use for some reason, and to know that everything is fine with all of you and the pets.
How would your dog manage to pee on the clothes horse? 🤔
I'm moved to read again that you provided a new home for Denny. I witnessed the same when one of our neighbours picked up a Greek Shepard dog from Greece, who he calls Socrates, and followed the whole process from being a shy, mistrustful dog to becoming a self-confident yard dog. How lovely and exhilarating. My neighbour and you have my full respect. :thumbsu:
