The Lounge 2

Lock em up to make a quicker decision
An Australian Pope? Well we have an Australian Saint, so why not a Pope too.

Two black smokes already Terry. Not all that quick is it. Are there simply too many cardinals from which to choose?

G'day Zman. I have had a horrible morning. Started removing hundreds of maple leaves from my front lawn and the bloody Ryobi stopped sucking after only bout 5 mins. Then as I was doing it manually a wind blew up suddenly and scattered leaves from arsehole to breakfast along my street .

I went for a 110km run on my motorbike up to a mate's farm today. It tested my350c Honda but it got there steadily.
On the way out on his gravel driveway I slipped and dropped the bike. The bike was fine but I landed heavily on my right shoulder. Just pain I thought but the 110km ride home made my shoulder hurt more.
When home I had a closer look and then realised I'd dislocated my shoulder.
Hence I drove my car down to a local emergency care clinic that was busy and had no time for me. They had two (2) patients! At least the nurse organinised a sling for me but couldn't remember how to do it. Wow! I've done several first aid classes and know how to make an arm sling. Good grief.
I have to go back tomorrow and hope they can put my shoulder back in place.
More pain but they give nitrous oxide while they'll relocate my shoulder to its rightful place.

All the best mate, it sounds very painful.

Thanks Zman. It was very painful and just occasionally now if I move the wrong way. A good reminder.

I went back to the new Emergency Care Clinic and they wanted to bounce me off again. I was polite but firm and when given the option of being a paid private client I got to see the doctor eventually after confusing instructions.
$100 less rebate and worth it. Money talks it seems.

I take my hat off to that Doctor and his nurse who were excellent, likewise the X-Ray gentleman. More confusing Admin issues there too. Worse than CentreLink.
Its front counter and admin gets a C from me but the medical staff an A. The Doctor especially who gave me multiple scripts of powerful anti-inflamitory tablet. I refused the option of strong painkillers preferring just panadol. Surprisingly he praised me for that. 😇

Turned out my shoulder wasn't dislocated. It's a fracture of the clavicle or collar bone. 6 to 12 weeks to heal for old me. I'm tempted to sell my bike, I probably won't understanding better now its, limitations. It's a great metro bike with lots of low down torque. 😀 It burns off cars at the lights easily.

The clinic didn't have any sling's, nor their pharmacy, nor two of my local pharmacies. Weird. Having done several first aid courses we were taught how to put on a sling.
As once a Boy Scout Patrol leader I know knots, ... and have made a nice comfortable sling with an old scarf. Medical recommended position of arm followed nicely. 🤕

That Cardinal vote was a lot quicker than expected. Much quicker Craig.

And the new Pope Leo 14th is a Yank by birth (Boston?) but spent ages in Peru as firstly a missionary, then a bishop, later a cardinal and now pope. He's a smart and humane man of God fluent in several languages. Nice also to see he wishes to steer the Church in the humane way as did his dearly departed predessor Pope Francis. I hope he oo focusses on the Ethnic Cleasing in Gaza.

I had a bad experience falling off my bicycle when I was in my early 20's riding to the train station, battered and bruised I still went to work that day which turned out be a bad decision pain wise after my body cooled down. There was lots of pain an hour after I fell and suffice to say I had a week off work to recover from my injuries plus I've never rode a two-wheeler since that day ever again.

You were lucky mate. Why didnt you go to the emergency dept of a local public hospital and have Medicare cover the cost even if you have private cover. Perhaps a little longer waiting time but at the very least they'd have provided you with a sling.👩‍⚕️

I'm off to a local ED tomorrow for further investigation.
The Admin of the Urgent Care Clinic was not great but the doctor and medical team were very good. I had a nice chat with the Radiologists too. Very thorough and caring.
All the scans were bulk billed too.
Maybe the ED will give me a sling tomorrow? My Scarf does the job quite well in the interim.
