The Lounge 2

Grier Grier Terry, since I haven't found anything here or elsewhere, how have you been doing since your accident? Are you on the mend?
I'm slowly healing Thomas but there has been a set back with the possibility of surgery. I'll find out this Friday when I'll have more X-Rays and see my Orthopedic surgeon. He may put a plate in or wire up the bones that have separated.

A retired senior nurse friend encourages me to get the operation if it's a marginal choice.
She gave good reasons too ... I'm always happy to seek other's opinions.
Meta AI was ambivalent .... I quite like it often exploring topics of interest and winding my way through the discussion ever digging deeper, asking for clarifications, and so on like pulling up clips, photos, graphs, ....

What a pity, Terry. As if that mishap wouldn't have been enough. The other day a member of my table-tennis club took a nasty spill on his bike and suffered a fractured shoulder blade. No idea when or if he'll come back. He's 85. I keep my fingers crossed for you. 🤞

Thanks Thomas.
Sorry to hear about your 85 yo table tennis member fracturing his shoulder blade.
It's slowly sinking into me that as we age our bones weaken, ... and we're more fragile in many other ways too.

One miracle survivor from the Air India crash. He was blessed from above. 😇The culprit was another Boeing plane, the Dreamliner, of which if not mistaken, our Qantas has several.

Only have to go online to find many helpful hints to permit us old farts to live longer. I am a devotee and now follow them daily. I suggest you guys do too. One is to rise slowly from bed, do some toe wiggling then deep breathing exercises. Onother is to always make room temp water your first beverage of the day. A third, for muscle retention are lite lifting exercises. I use soup cans as I dont have small barbells.

So true. I'd wanted to say no more but what you are saying is spot-on. A few days ago I lost my balance while taking off my trousers and had to cushion the fall with just one hand which could have resulted in a broken wrist...🥴 You're right, Terry, we should refrain from doing risky things over which we have control, for there are a lot of others over which we haven't.
