Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

If Gayle didn't retire hurt I reckon WA could have won inside 12 overs.

Other than that we're relying on Gayle, S Marsh, Voges and Ronchi to make all of our runs. Our bowling attack is rubbish. Knowles and Coulter-Nile aren't really Twenty20 bowlers, Noffke was awful. Really need Magoffin and Dorey back into the side. Not sure how Doropolous and Bandy are still getting a game.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

WA's overratted batting lineup looks like getting them the spoon this year, I reckon even Chris Rogers would get a game for them :D

Sensational game tonight between the 2 finallists from last year, despite all the crap about NSW having the wood over Victoria following a couple of lucky wins in Sydney and a win in India, back at the MCG the undefeated Vics reigned supreme showing why they love it so much at home with a massive 25,000+ crowd seeing Victoria continue their perfect record at the home of cricket

NSW 6/178 (20 overs)
Warner 40 (20)
S.Smith 35* (26)
Jaques 33

Bravo 3/32 (4)
Hussey 2/16 (3)

VIC 4/179 (19.4 overs)
Wade 41 (24)
Hodge 40 (36)
Hussey 38 (16)

Victoria won by 6 wickets

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

What are you saying about WAs batting line up eddie? :D

WA vs NSW playing now.

Geez Marsh is on fire in this format. 108 tonight from 58 balls, 6 fours and 6 sixes. Robinson just handed him the strike with 54 from 55. Ronchi was needed for 8 balls and scored 19 with two sixes. The finished with 1/198, one very decent score.

Warner has been in excellent form this season, but along with Khawaja and Henriques has fallen victim to Knowles and Hogan with 2 and 1 respectively. NSW are 3/27 off 4.3 overs and are looking quite shaky. WA are really thrashing them.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

The other other Smith comes out to bat.

Two of them have to be dropped to avoid confusion.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

9/69 with 5 overs to go.

Voges is captaining well, really changing the bowlers up and has used 8 bowlers already. Credit to him.

The Marsh brothers are both very fine cricketers.

Mitch takes the ball into his hand and gets 3/5 from two overs. Plus I don't remember seeing a scorecard with him scoring less than 50. Plus what Shaun has done already is well known.

Won't be long until we see another pair of brothers playing for the Aussie team, could see Mike and Dave Hussey and Mitch and Shaun Marsh playing in the one team. That has to be a first.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Just as I post the last one Mitch Marsh get's his fourth wicket with Bird being caught behind.

NSW all out for 71. If that's not complete and utter dominance then I don't know what is.

EDIT:

Jaques top scored with 16. Interestingly the only batsman that scored at better than a run a ball for the Blues was Khawaja, but only 6 from 5 so nothing spectacular.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Ohh, I guess the Baby Blues wont be defending their crown this year whilst QLD could go from Prelim to spooners with WA winning a game suprisingly

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

WA have a very, very strong team. It's just whether or not they work together. The skill there is immense but the amount of times they have collapses is unacceptable. Their bowling is a little weak, but no worse then any other team.

QLD is doing the same. Some good single performers, but no team work. T20 should be the game for them but it just hasn't happened this season.

Just think what WA could have had if Gayle pulled up fit for that game...

Personally I don't like the addition of the import. Half the teams don't have access to them at least for the full season and in Queensland's case it doesn't look like Vettori will turn up at all. Plus Victoria has all the money and the pulling power, they got themselves Bravo and without him they wouldn't have been as close against the Blues. Once again it is whoever has the most money wins.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Yeah we got Afridi and Pollard because Adelaide is such a glamourous place, much like Milan or Barcelona. Plus we're pretty much rolling in prize money from all of the tournaments we've won in the last 15 years.

Or maybe they just like churches.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Yeah but what has Afridi done really? He got a MOTM but his performance from my eyes wasn't very good.

Queensland doesn't have the money now after falling out on contracts with Nofke, Johnson, Symonds and Watson. Then there are the four million retirements. Matty Hayden said he was a possibility to play in the Big Bash but pulled out due to family commitments or something, Vettori signed but is now injured (not the greatest T20 player ever, unlike Gayle, Bravo, Afridi) and tried to secure Malinga, someone bought him out first and is injured I think? And now Symonds seems to be the only star there, he hasn't played cricket regularly in yonks.
