Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

I read that CA was paying everyone and everyone got the same money so its nothing to do with money, QLD just went after the wrong players and the Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh tri series that was on and off a dozen times really screwed things up, it basically left WI as the only team to get players from

As for WA, their bowling still sucks and despite NSW trying to make them look good, no target is ever safe, Victoria chased down 200+ with a couple of overs to spare a couple of years ago

As for no Bravo, no Vics, not sure on that, we won by 6 wickets, you telling me you dont think Victoria could find anyone who can clear the fence? Like Maxwell or Hastings or Finch who have all done it before?

Great to have him, but nothing to say the Vics would lose without him, no team has ever beaten Victoria at the MCG and we didnt have Bravo for those first 4 years, but is very handy when missing most of our fast bowling squad so need added batting depth

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Looks like the money thing hasn't been backed on my behalf. I'm sure I read about it somewhere. Give me a bit I will try and see if that article is relevant.

Either way I don't like it, this is Australia's tournament for a serious selection basis. T20 should either be a hit and miss fun game or a serious game. There is a world cup, it is serious IMO. What would you say if Queensland contracted Murali for the Sheffield Shield?

And the Vics only won with 2 balls to spare. Without Bravo going crazy, taking a brilliant catch, and getting three wickets I'm not sure there is another player that could have done it like he has and will almost every game. He is one mighty fine player there. Same with Gayle.

Australian cricket isn't an auction.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Without Dwayne Smith taking a freakish catch and then later dismissing Dussey then we never would have needed our no6

So it goes both ways

I noticed that CA was offering 50,000 towards any potential signings, so you could probably offer them more

But the reason Victoria got Bravo was they went straight after him from the start, QLD went for Flintoff :D

Yeah but what has Afridi done really? He got a MOTM but his performance from my eyes wasn't very good.

He pretty much single-handedly won both games, and would be a deserving 'man of the series' if the big bash finished tomorrow.

If it makes the standard of cricket better then it is a good thing, especially in a Twenty20 competition which is basically just a money making exercise.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Pollard is a great example that goes against the Money, power etc argument, NSW went after him hard yet he still went to SA and NSW would have more money than anyone

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

I guess wanting to play for one of the better teams so you have a better chance of going to the champions league would play a part, but Pollard will already be going there for T&T so he had no reason to choose NSW.

Also, the fact that SA = Adelaide Oval would be a drawcard I guess.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Shahid & Pollard both have the ability to turn a game, so with two of them in the side the Redbacks are in a strong position to get into the Big Bash final.

They guys are also loving the cricket in Adelaide and the lifestyle & the fans are loving watching them play. Pollard got a standing ovation for his 9 in the Redbacks match against the Bulls last Sunday night & the Redbacks will play in front of a sell-out crowd again tonight.

Coach Mark Sorell & Assistant Coach Jeff Vaughan did a pre-match preview in the players' rooms yesterday:

I see WA are losing Mitch Marsh for the remainder of the tournament but Gayle is coming back to tackle the Vics :(

What has happened to Mitch?

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

That's right, I remember hearing that.

He deserves it too.

Would enjoy seeing him Shaun, Mike and Dave Hussey all playing in the one ODI team to set a record for two sets of brothers.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Eddie's boys in strife at 2 for 5 chasing SA's 203, Hodgy out for a duck :)

edit - White gone now 3 for 9, big Tait on fire!

The Vics are 3 down in the second over.

Let's all cheer!
I can understand the QLDers have to live through another team seeing as they are so shit they cant even win a game, wonder what the odds are of QLD going winless throughout the tournament?

Shit loss but still 2nd on the table or 3rd after Tassie annihilates QLD tomorrow, only need to finish top 3

I don't care about the Bulls in T20 anymore, the Warriors are my team in that for now ;).

As long as the Vics go down! :p
