I can understand the QLDers have to live through another team seeing as they are so shit they cant even win a game, wonder what the odds are of QLD going winless throughout the tournament?

Shit loss but still 2nd on the table or 3rd after Tassie annihilates QLD tomorrow, only need to finish top 3

We are on the board now Eddie, with a magnificent win over the tassie tigers.

Nice to see last year's loss to Qld in the Ford Ranger Cup final still burns deep.

Laughlin is a superstar.:D

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

About time QLD did something good for Victoria :D

As for last years OD final, means nothing as we won the lucrative T20 Prelim and the important Shield Final, no one cares about 50 over cricket anymore :)

Hey! I do!

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

WA beat the Vics by 24 runs in a good match.

MoTM was my boy Nofke. Go Noffers.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Hopefully QLD cause the upset of the season and beat WA so a Victorian win over Tassie would see a home final :D

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

WA too good again, Victoria have now lost two games in a row, the first time that has ever happened in the Big Bash tournament. They seem to be a in a real slump in all forms of the game at the moment.

Warriors up to second now, hopefully we can win against Queensland and get a home Preliminary Final.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Gets quite complicated now with the teams being so tight and head to head deciding the order and up to 4 teams could all finish even on 3 wins

Some basic scenarios are

Best case scenario for Victoria is beat TAS and then QLD beat WA and that should guarantee an MCG prelim final without worrying about other results

Best case for WA is to beat QLD and hope SA can win atleast 1 more game therefore eliminating NSW or TAS from a possible 4 way tie

SA will lock up 1st place with 1 win

NSW need to win both games and rely on atleast 1 of VIC and WA losing for them to advance

TAS need to win both games and could steal top spot by doing so should NSW beat SA and WA beat QLD

QLD simply need to win both games

Unsure of exactly how the head to head works with multiple teams and you have 2 teams on 2 wins and 2 on 1 win in the head to head, whether NRR seperates both positions or head to head is used again on each individual position

So for example, SA lose both games, NSW win both games, WA beat QLD then
TAS beat VIC
SA 3 wins- WA,
NSW 3 wins- TAS, SA
WA 3 wins- NSW
TAS 3 wins- WA, SA
So if it then goes on NRR then Tas would likely finish 1st, NSW 2nd and probably WA 3rd
If each spot stays on head to head again then its NSW 1st, Tas 2nd and SA 3rd

VIC beat TAS
SA 3 wins- VIC, WA,
NSW 3 wins- , SA
WA 3 wins- VIC, NSW
VIC 3 wins- NSW,
Yet again the same question

Should be a great end to the season

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Not sure why it goes on this head-to-head rubbish first then Net Run Rate. It should go on NRR first then whatever method they use after that second.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

All limited overs tournament have always used head to head when an even number of games is played between all teams

Cost Victoria the big bash last year, had the far superior NRR, NSW easily the worst yet NSW went top on head to head and Vic to 3rd with QLD finishing in the same position on head to head or NRR

What about the Ford Ranger Cup? Surely that's not decided by head-to-head record?

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Here is the Ford Ranger tie breakers

Order in the table:
Position of teams in the table is determined by:
Total points
Won
Head-to-head result (if more than two teams level head-to-head only applies if all those teams have played the same number of matches against each other)
Bonus Points
Net run rate (runs per over scored less runs per over conceded, adjusting team batting first to overs of team batting second in rain rule matches, adjusting to team's full allocation if all out, and ignoring no result matches

The wins helped Victoria host last year when they ended up tied with 1 more win but QLD had 4 more BPs

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Don't mind position being decided on wins, I'm cool with that. Head-to-head record I don't agree with though.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Interesting game tonight with some good and terrible cricket..

SA winning a decent result for WA anyway.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

I think without Pollard and Afridi, SA would struggle big time in my opinion. Tait bowling well is a good thing though, would love to see him in the Australian T20 side for this summer.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

If you took out the internationals and the players from other states, we would have about 4 players. Don't care though, the last time we won anything I was 5 years old so I'll take any sort of success.

Good result for everyone, basically eliminates Tassie

Now if QLD can beat NSW tomorrow night everything will be falling into place

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

The thing is, though, do we want South Australia representing Australia in the Champions League?

With NSW, you bring back all the international players and you almost have the international side. That doesn't work with SA, their current team is the team, and I'm not sure if Afridi and Pollard will be joining them, will they?

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Unless Trinindad & Tobago also qualify, then yes they will both play.

Also, only people who played at least one game for their team in qualifying can play in the CL, so they would not 'almost have the international side'. SA deserve to be in the Champions League by virtue of being better than all the other teams.
