Twenty20 Champions League

The inaugural Champions League tournament, involving the domestic Twenty20 finalists from England, Australia, South Africa and the IPL, will take place over a 10-day period in late September and early October with US$5 million on offer for the winners.

The fine detail is yet to be confirmed, but Cricket Australia are currently drawing up the regulations which will deal with the issues of Indian Cricket League players and potential conflicts for players involved with more than one team.

I'm looking forward to Victoria taking our domination to the world :)

Re: Twenty20 Champions League

Another money making spin.

WOuld be a long way to travel (assuming it isn't in Australia) for no money.

How could they find 10 days without no rain in the UK in september and October?

Australia, Sth Africa are definates. Isn't that the beginning of the wet season in India?

10 days isn't that long and hopefully my attention wouldn't waiver like the IPL did

Re: Twenty20 Champions League

Chennai can get stuffed, you're not getting Michael Hussey. Hussey should be playing for Western Australia and not some franchise. The players should be playing for their original teams and in the case of the IPL, Hussey should be representing WA, I'm sure he feels the same way.

Yeah seeing as he only played 2 or 3 games for them it is unfair.

But I am guessing the prizemoney will be coming mainly from India

County teams are third preference

No, for the most part. It is the end of the wet season (summer monsoon) for majority of the country. It is the beginning of secondary autumn monsoon, such as Southern part of the country (Chennai and thereabouts). But if they can get away with not staging events in the Chennai vicinity, they should be mostly OK, I think.

Re: Twenty20 Champions League

Well given that it appears to fall around the time of the Champions Trophy and Australias tour of India, I dont think Mike Hussey and who he plays for will be an issue

Should be a good tournament, as for long travel for no money, pretty sure all teams were set to receive some very good money just for qualifying

Re: Twenty20 Champions League

Does anyone believe that all these easier money making tournaments might put the world game of cricket in danger? I am hoping that players don't end their international careers earlier with the prospect of big dollars on offer or prefer not to start their careers in the first place. But the more money out there the more tempted some guys could become. :(
