Victorian Premier Cricket - 2010/11

If you're right Dougie then CV have to have a good look at themselves. Not concerned about Dora but Gulbis is a very good player who has been mucked around by CV for too long.

This is a list of the CV contracts for 2011-12.

Cricket Australia contracts:

Cameron White, Peter Siddle, David Hussey, John Hastings, James Pattinson

Full Cricket Victoria contracts:

Ryan Carters, Mark Cleary, Aaron Finch, Steven Gilmour, Jayde Herrick, Michael Hill, Brad Hodge, Jon Holland, Alex Keath, Glenn Maxwell, Andrew McDonald, Clint McKay, Darren Pattinson, Rob Quiney, Chris Rogers, Will Sheridan, Matthew Wade

Cricket Victoria rookie contracts:

Brett Forsyth, Peter Handscomb, Steven Reid, Scott Boland

Doropolous is with SA, Gulbus with Tasmania.

How on earth does Forsyth retain a contract after making 8 ducks this season on a "road" at Prahran, a road that he left Dandenong (and their wicket) for, who ended up winning a premiership without him.

Yeah, CV has no room to move this year with their contracts. They'd committed to signing up Gilmour, Forsyth had a two year contact, plus losing cash to the BBL.

Don't have my ear close to the ground at the moment, but be interesting to see what happens with the players who are over here for the BBL, whether they will be allowed to play grade cricket.

Carlton, on the lookout for a senior batsman now with Gulbis gone? Or will it be full steam ahead with the kids + Pilon?

It's really poor to have guys in the 2's with state contracts, there's something really wrong with the system. CV basically speculate on young players. When it works (Keath), CV look smart. When it doesn't (Forsyth), they look bad. There has to be a better way. CV need to put Premier cricket first again and use that as their guide. What happened to proving yourself? It's a real shame that the pathway system now holds greater importance than Premier Cricket when it is cleary a lower standard of cricket.

Hear that the removalists have had a busy time at a location on Orrong Road in the past few weeks with two or three potential jobs all but confirmed. One has a truck taking a players gear (back) to Dandenong, and another has a batsman's gear going to a south-eastern Subbies club while one that was headed to a location on Camberwell Road was camcelleld when a former test spinner accepted a big package to remain and assume an assistant coaching role.
