Re: Who will win the AFL flag?

Thursday night footy.

Richmond beat Carlton comfortably by 31 points, even with Chri$ Judd in the midfield.

In the other game the teal princesses couldn't reverse their 119 point embarrassment, losing by 9 points at home to Geelong.

Great night all up :)

Re: Who will win the AFL flag?

Bloody Fremantle. We need to make a few changes for the Saturday Night game @ Subi (hi Matt Carr) against the Hawks :( Pavlich must be pissed at getting all the passes to his feet or over his head

Saw the last half of the Coasters win over Brissy, not a bad game both sides looking pretty good. Apparently the Sainters also won.

Oh and Pidgeon I have a spare ticket for free to the game if you want to come, you just have to make your own way to the wild west. I'm gunna catch up with my mate Buddy again this year and get on the Biscuits, but this time we are going to wait untill after the game cause he played like crap last year ;)

Same old Freo. Watched part of the game today and at times they were pretty bad. Matt Carr and Shaun McManus should be sent back to the WAFL, they looked completely out of their depth on occasions in that game.

Delivery to the forward line was very average and in general they were quite wasteful.

Listened to the game on the radio while I was at work. Should have put Brisbane away but as usual we let them back in. We can never seem to put teams to the sword at Subiaco in recent times, I'm not sure why this is.

I got a bit worried there during the third quarter but we were able to pull through in the last. Happy with the win but it should have been by more.

Saints won in a shit game, the usual Sydney Flooding crap came up again and they almost bored the Saints into losing.

Go the DOGGIES!

Top effort by the Dogs to get up in Johno's 300th - fantastic player @|

Surprised at the Bumbers thrashed the Kangas, might have underestimated them. Early days though I suppose..

Tossing up whether or not to try and get tickets for the Eagles' home Western Derby. Maybe I should just get em as I'm sure if I can't go they will be easy to get rid of.

Actually, for the 1st time in half a year, I was actually pissed off that we lost. Pathetic effort in the 2nd half. That's all it was.

We did noodle head :D Chris Mayne on debut with 2 goals, Rhys Palmer on debut with 22 possesions and a goal, Garrick Ibbotson's 2nd game went ok. What game were you watching or do you just have NFI?

All should play against the Slime next week and hopefully they bring in Marcus Drum for that gaylord Tarrant.

Horethorn have done very well with Cyril Riolli Pidge - should be gun @|

Re: Who will win the AFL flag?

Thank Lord the Dockers finally got a win on the board. Palmer looked very good but will get some more defensive attention against the tigers next week.

Re: Who will win the AFL flag?

I wish we were playing Melbourne next week instead of in a fortnight. Surely, for ********in ********'s sake, surely there are some records that can just be left as it is instead of Carlton seemingly doing their best to break them.
Equalled a 104-year old record losing streak, big chance it will be broken this Sunday, one game off the all time record of consecutive games where over 100 points that have been conceeded, and if I do some more research I would know what losing streaks we have against other clubs and biggest losing margins since they "won" their 1st ever wooden spoon. It's getting more embarrassing by the day.

From early on, it's looks like it's heading towards a Geelong/Hawthorn Grand Final with Melbourne to win the wooden spoon. However, we've only three rounds so it's impossible to predict what's going to happen later down the track.

Geelong and Hawthorn look very good with the Bulldogs the surprise so far. Adelaide has been the best improver from last year with Essendon in 8th. West Coast and Port Adelaide have been the big sliders, last year's Grand Finalists haven't won a game yet. Melbourne and Carlton will fight it out for the wooden spoon.

Geelong and Hawthorn still at the top and looking very good. The Bulldogs too are also looking well, still no losses after four rounds. Sydney have fourth outright while a range of teams are on two wins which includes Richmond who were favourites to finish last this year and also St. Kilda who were tipped to perhaps win the flag. Carlton got their first win of the season in a boilover over Collingwood whilst the two WA teams, Fremantle and West Coast continue to struggle near the bottom of the ladder. Port still haven't won despite making the Grand Final last year and a 0-4 record will make finals hard to come by let alone a top four spot. And rounding out the teams once again is Melbourne who just don't look one bit competitive at the moment. It could be a very lean season for the Demons, and for it to happen in their 150th anniversary year would make the club all the more poorer.

The talking point of the round though will be Sydney player Barry Hall's gutless hit on West Coast player Brent Staker near the end of the first quarter. In a completely unprovoked attack, Hall, who is a boxer, turned around to his opponent, Staker and decked the Eagles player with a fierce left hook which wouldn't look out of place in a boxing ring. The incident itself can only be described as nothing but weak, gutless and cowardly considering Staker had no idea the punch was even coming. Ironically though, Hall had a collision with a fence late in the game, the impact breaking his wrist and also cutting his head open. The injury is expected to keep Hall out for about four weeks. Nonetheless, a weak act by a player who is nothing but a thug and he will cop a lengthy suspension at the tribunal which could be up to eight weeks. Hope the Match Review Panel throws the book at him.

Re: Who will win the AFL flag?

If you didn't know, Hall copped seven weeks for his hit on Staker. It looks as though he could miss up to ten weeks with his wrist injury as he has suffered some serious damage to his hand from that collision with the fence.

Well, we've had the first draw of the season between Western Bulldogs and Richmond. The Bulldogs trailed by 19 pts late in the final quarter but somehow managed to salvage a draw. Will Minson kicked the goal that tied up the game after Brian Lake was unable to take the kick after injuring what looked to be his thigh.

Geelong and Hawthorn still undefeated after five rounds, that game will be a cracking match-up when they meet, the Bulldogs haven't lost either although that draw means they haven't won every game. A handy gap back to Sydney in 4th place with three wins, they are in a group of four with the same amount of victories.

Richmond's draw sees them consolidate 8th place for the second week in a row whilst Collingwood are knocking on the door in 9th. That miss by Didak in the dying minutes could have seen them 6th had they won. Carlton made it two wins a row, some thought they wouldn't even win that many games for the entire season whilst Port won their first match over a struggling West Coast. The two WA sides are going to struggle this year, West Coast's injuries are really hurting them along with their off-season departures. Their fall from grace has been surprising whilst Fremantle continue to underachieve, they need to start playing their younger players more frequently, something which West Coast is starting to do although very slowly.

And the Demons, well, they are in big trouble. Their captain, David Neitz is out with a career threatening neck injury which may keep him out for up to eight weeks. His injury is bad enough for the Dees to put him on their long-term injury list. Add that to the fact they are still winless and looking rather uncompetitive sees their season going downhill rapidly.

Thoughts AFL fans?
