I'm over Bundoora CC's rubbish. You've been no good for ages, you wont be good any time soon, and you've wasted a truckload of money in the process.
They're the cold hard facts. You're closer to Money Shield than and A grade flag right now.
Unsure of his name, but with numbers like that, Bundoora should be chasing him for their top order next year. Would clearly fit in well.

Haha, I don't like Riverside or Bundoora much but apparently this Walker bloke is disliked by his own team which isn't a great reflection really. Time will tell if he can back up his mouth and maybe get past 50 runs for the season and possibly even push towards 5 wickets for the year....

Truth is I havent stopped sprouting in over 200 games.
Would have thought 2 finals campaigns from the past 3 seasons is a reasonable effort. Cant remember how many the clappers have played in over the same period, of even the last time they won a flag.
Cant defend 33, but I think the boys answered it the best way possible.

Half way through what are everybodys thoughts on who will make the 4 and ultimately win the flag? Personally I cant see to much change in the top 4 really.
At least there is unpredictable results every week making this season alot more interesting.

It will be interesting to see how the 5 matches after Xmas go, I think there could be significant changes to the four, here’s what I reckon:
Plenty
The perennial performers with great self-belief, there have been rumblings of disharmony at the Power however their performances in general haven’t reflected this. Lance Whitnall and Salvatore in form and Lovey chiming in, they will be there-abouts.
Player to watch: Whitnall to make a run at the comp medal late in the season, I’m told he’s even better at footy.
Riverside
Have been held up by Gibbs and Smale this season, and some heroics from Gleeson – not so much from Walker but there is still time for him to reach his pre-season predictions of 1500 runs and 90 wickets. They need to do it in finals, really need to.
Player to watch: The Pig to strengthens the Siders top order and will have them bounding into the finals. The Siders always perform well after the major religious holidays are done.
Lower Eltham
Have had a favourable run but have only dropped a tight one against Camrea, bowling is so thin that they will need to post big scores, unless Burgs gains another 3 or 4 yards and catches some disease that restricts his sledging at umpires. All reports suggest a harder nosed edge on them this year under Callum Still, word is that McLeod staged a boycott of LECC beer after being kept out in the field for an extra hour, sooking or not an interesting turn of events.
Player to Watch: Jethro Still – haven’t seen him play in years but 1 word – FREAK
Diamond Creek
Another solid team with some exceptional kids and the Glynn boys still around, will make a run at things at the business end, bowling stocks a worry.
Player to watch: The WAGS at DCCC are exceptional, looking for further strong performances in the warmer weather.
Camrea
Reasonable start and have star power with Bubis, McGann and the kid that played district cricket, an unknown quantity but could do some damage if they sneak in.
Player to watch: Bubis – surely he will keep up to the stumps to McGann at some stage.
Research
Have been good sans any contribution from Eltham Collegians, look for the 3rds to be full of EC players by seasons end. Any team with Turner and Malone can play and they will test most teams after Xmas.
Player to watch: Turner – the general and best bat in the comp other than Minney and Whitcher. (and possibly Walker)
Mernda (who cares?)
McLeod
Just your average joe cricket team fighting for some respect with the big boys, have some very handy players in the brothers Wise and big O’Leary, a dangerous old customer bowling nutty little mediums in the ranks as well. Not this year but easily good enough for Barclay.
Player to Watch: The small Wise – he’s a gun at everything from what I’ve seen.
Lalor
They don’t warm up and this mentality seems to be starting to show. Have match winners but they need the gods smiling to win matches, so much talent if they just batted properly but having said that, will beat their fair share in the 2nd half.
Player to watch: Keaysy – apparently has been in red hot form with his commentary from the boundary line, and we expect nothing less.
Bundoora
Just a terrible start and have been embarrassed in a couple of games, can only improve from here but would want to start to come good. Dean still in the ones probably isn’t helping but good blokes don’t come around very often so must be contributing something to the group.
Player to watch: Adams – will continue to take wickets, needs the bats to take some of the heat off him, he can’t get 5 for fa every week.
Epping
Have never been able to bat and now that the legends that are the Hursts are starting to slow down they are finding things tough. Have one of the mouthiest spinners in the league (very tight contest with C.Still) but I suppose if he keeps getting us all out he can say what he wants. Wouldn’t want the Panthers to win another one.
Player to watch: Shortis – oh no, sorry he’s in the 2’s.
Eltham
Just bloody battling but we all want them to stay up. The MMCC have enough there to pull out some surprise performances, and yes Skips is important, vital and important again, but they have others who need to perform. Get well soon Davo.
Player to watch: Tongs – the man with the acid tongue will be vital in getting under the skin of oppositions players after Xmas, and average a good 3 or 4 with bat to get them out of relegation zone.

Great first post, been a while since I have been on BC, the place needs intelligent posts like this, the banter is great and your thoughtful posts are great. For what its worth I will add my 2cents:
Plenty
Yep, perennial performers they are, envy of the DVCA. Bowling is the strength though I reckon. Will be in the top 4 come finals time
Player to watch: Hubber - Great back up to the quicker Rossy and Salvo, Oh and Whitnall cannot play football
although can make killer cocktails.......Riverside
Consistent team who will be pushing for the finals.
Player to watch: I agree with your post Pigga is back from a sore back and after making plenty last year will want to finish the season off with a couple of big hits.
Lower Eltham
Run home looks much tougher, if the batting line up clicks can make a big score, will be there-abouts.
Yep thats just not local cricket.
Player to Watch: Johnny Short - Opener who, if bats for the whole 80 (and can) will post a big one
Diamond Creek

McGann ripping them through and Barek averaging 80 is enough to win games, suspect batting even with old man Bubis (jk Johnny)
Player to watch: Barek, already made 257 (we had alot of 1 dayers) so with 5 to go could have a reasonable season
Research
The combine assured me over a beer pre-season they will play finals, after 3 early wins the have dropped the next 3. Maybe a amalgamation takes time. Sideshow Bob still making alot of runs although not many wickets this year (but maybe not needed to bowl so many). Will win more.
Player to watch: Malone - Gun all rounder, big 100 coming.
Mernda
With 2 recent wins Baker will keep them going but not enough to make finals
Player to watch: Chesto's kids coming through are worth looking at, but its the Baker show at Schotters most Saturdays
MacLeod
Probably deserve to be higher on the ladder if not for a Bubis 6 on the last ball to snatch 6 points form them. Batting can look thin, not this year.
Player to Watch: Rigg, from what I have heard only plays at home, so its BS 1 week then B grade the next. I hear that on the Macleod flat deck bowling is perfect for it and hard to play (thats the given reason, maybe just doesn't like to travel).
Lalor
Still a strong line up, starting to maybe age and lack fitness if a warm 80 over game, agree will win a few more games but not for finals this year
Player to watch: Kemp - a big score will happen this year and hasn't yet.
Bundoora
A shocker of a start but have come back to what most expected, will give side expecting to play finals a shake but will have left run to late
Player to watch: Fairchild - will want a big score and if grounds quicken up will get one.
Epping
Will feel the pressure now Eltham have won one, Round 9 at Epping could be a relegation battle and that pitch can prove tricky even to the locals.
Players to watch: Hursts - May have slowed down but heart and soul of the pingers and you don't lose class.
Eltham
Recent years celler dwellers, some say they rely to much on Skip and thats probably 100% true. All they need is a few people to bat with him and they could sneak a win or two and defy the odds again
Player to watch: N. Chrimes - Young kids thrown up the order and has made a few starts, a little partnership with Skip could be on the cards to try and achieve another 6 points. (Yeah and Tongs.....nah I hear his little pinky is to sore to play cricket anymore)

Mate just interested to know what this is all about.. Mernda may not be one of the big strong dvca clubs but they are sure as hell one of the toughest sides to beat come satdys. They are ultra competitive despite having an average at best batting line up and one superstar bowler!
I know if they sneak into the 4 the other 3 clubs in the finals will be hoping they dont have to meet them in either the semi or grannie..

Absoluteglam? more like absolute flog, you obviously know all things riverside! walks is a ripping bloke, has embraced the club like all good people should do when they go to a new club, trains hard as anyone and goes to all functions as well as out with the boys on a sat night when we head into town, doesn't sound like a guy whos disliked, maybe take a pot shot at someone you know? actually that takes a little courage something you obviously don't have.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Xmas/New Year, good to be back into the cricket this week.
Some good posts, for what it's worth I'll chuck in my thoughts:
Plenty: Still the side to beat, not sailing as smoothly as they have previously but are yet to really get going which could be scary.
Player/s To Watch: The Rosbrook/Salvatore partnership..........just warming up.
Riverside: The Clappers will be looking to shake their post-season choker tag, with the Pig to be added to their early season form this could be their year, hard to see a team with Daniel Walker in it not winning the flag anyway isn't it?
Player To Watch: Big El..........has started well and looks good for a big run total this season.
Diamond Creek: Play very good team cricket and are hard to beat, have a great mix of old and new and look to have got it together this season, can beat anyone on their day.
Player To Watch: Rogneda..........has turned into an absolute gun and will only get better at such a young age.
Lower Eltham: Have defintely got the side to win it even if their bowling is bare. Have got a bit of mongrel in them and always play to win no matter what the situation, massive chance in my opinion if the batting can give Onion Head (just looking at it makes you cry) Burgoyne and his mates something to bowl at.
Player To Watch: Still the Captain, looks ready to dominate with the bat and can be handy with the ball, a good all round player who seems to have grown with the extra responsibilty.
Camrea: Not a bad start to their first taste of the big time. Have got the experienced players to be able to be competitive but do lack depth. Any side with McGann, Bubis and Berak in it should be treated with respect.
Player/s To Watch: The afforementioned trio, very talented and can win games off their own back individually.
Research: Started like a house on fire but will need to win their first few after the break to make sure they are their abouts. Have had blokes put their hands up on certain occasions but definitely have the star power to be a force in every game they play. Will need the Turner/Malone/Paine trio to all fire if they are any chance.
Player To Watch: Besides the 3 mentioned i'm going to suggest Tim Collins. Has threatened to announce hiself a few times over the last 2 seasons and after Xmas this year just might be the right time.
Mernda: Can't bat, can certainly bowl. Everyone knows it and so do they. Despite this, they are very hard to beat and play good team cricket. The Dean brothers have come a long way in the past couple of years and despite the obvious bowling strength I believe they hold the key to Mernda's success. Bakes can keep bowling sides out for under a hundred, no doubt, but that doesn't win you games unless you make 100 yourself. No one will want to play them come finals if they make it.
Player To Watch: We already watch Bakes so I'm going with the brothers Dean. If they can get some runs for Bakes to bowl at (he doesn't need many) then they can challenge again.
Macleod: Not sure really. Show glimpses and then play an ordinary game. Have some good players in Wisex2 and O'Leary can bowl quick but can be expensive. Not going to play a part in finals but my guess is they will play a part in who does.
Player To Watch: Robbie Wise, a very, very good bowler, a decent bat and a gun fielder.
Lalor Stars: Up and Down like a Yo-Yo. Have got some great players but seem to be short of the GF making form of a couple of seasons ago. Volpe and Kemp provide two very good bats but their bowling is not as strong as they would like despite Jamie Scott fast becoming one of the DV's best bowlers.
Player To Watch: Scott to terrorise a few DV batting line-ups before the season is out.
Bundoora: Capable of anything, good or bad, it seems. Adams is their key man, has been a great bowler for many years and can rip through the best batting line up with ease. but their batting appears to be a big worry and will need to lift if they are to keep the pressure of themselves.

Eltham: Was tryng to come up with something other than they are struggling and their only chance at staying up is the one man show.....Mark Minney. Obviously I came up with nothing else so this is it. Will need a miracle again, who dares suggest it doesn't happen.........?

Just a little tid-bit for you blokes making your predictions for the rest of the year - Mernda have strengthened their middle order a bit over the Christmas break, adding a former Barclay Shield premiership player to the mix.
