Cricket Albury Wodonga 2010/2011

He has scored 2 50's in the last three seasons batting high up the order......may be North are looking at boosting their C grade side because there is not a hope in hell he will even go close to breaking into their A grade batting line up.

I daresay gilly would just be after a bit of a change, he has played at bilson park for a long time and as a dedicated footy coach maybe he is looking to take a step back with cricket again.

Good games last night in the T20, highlight had to be Faz putting Boothy into the houses with a massive straight 6!

It does sound weird, he would have had to leave, cos north wouldnt have tried to recruit him, by his numbers, he doesnt look that very good at all, plus he only bowled once in a game last year. he must have had a falling out? why else would you leave half way through. at least tball had a reason to leave us, its interesting to see how much of a backlash tball got given when he left, but there is next to nothing said about gilson leaving, just weird. Faz should hit boothy into the veladrome everytime, boothy isnt very good is he?

dederand and new city faverites for relegation, with albury a close third. St pats, north and lavi to probably fight out the granny?

any other news around.

Interesting selection of the Country Week side in the paper today. I hope Bally can justify his spot since he's averaging 5.75 in 2 day games since switching to the Patties. Sometimes the grass isn't always greener.....:p

Not sure he could even justify his spot in Pattie's first grade side on those figures. He's had more photos in the Border Mail than runs this year!

If Ball is Coach he would be going to Melbourne anyway therefore saving the costs of taking another player down.
His form maybe doesnt warrant selection but he is the kind of guy who could turn a game within a few overs

So they pick 13 guys to go to country week. Yes some deserve to go on form . Just wondering how many runs Ball has made since switching ? The other guys going are doing CAW a favour and will do what most other have done on country week and enjoy the nightlife.

In district news ( the other part to CAW ) what has happened to Yack ? Getting beating by Baranduda on the weekend. The top four will go down to the wire with some teams who had a easier draw starting to play harder teams.

The 13 that are going to play plus the 4 support people to attend will all have to sign a code of conduct form and abide by strict rules set down by The Board is what im led to believe

This forum has become as boring as batshit
Seems its limited to lavy people which is probably why :D

Anyway for what its worth it appears as though the rebuilding at Raiders is moving along nicely. Congrats to middo and all at the club who have stuck through a period of being relegated and working hard to re-build the club structure after many rats jumped the drowning ship....its good to see there are still some people about local cricket that have substance and are prepared to stay true to their club and do some hard work.
Appears as though North are red hot favourites at this stage for the provincial flag with probably a race in 3 for the bottom places between New City, Dederang and Albury with somehow Albury miraculously looking as though they will finish 8th and stay up for one more year at least....its a pity for the New City guys who have worked tirelessly to re-build the club, hopefully their strong juniors stay true to the club and become future stars for them over the next few years it seems as thoufh they are playing heaps of kids wek in week out through their senior sides so good onto them, they also appear to be the best of the 3 with strong consistent performances against all the better sides but never just quite enough to get a win.....Belvoir for mine are the surprise packet and Tallangatta are the disappointment with woody definitely showing he should have stayed in retirement, dont get me wrong he has been one of this comps best ever but simply making up numbers now.

The CAW competition is becoming tired and needs a revamp.....anyone got any ideas?
It appears to me that the strong sides are just getting stronger and the others are dropping further away each year....perhapos we just have a comp with the top 4 sides, they seem to be the only ones who get recruits and if St.Pats land one more notable name their club will have to change its name to the traveling wilburys.....just how many blokes there now are actually St Pats cricketers?

if CAW want to become serious and reinstate rep cricket as something to be desired by the players then the 50 over format has to be reintroduced. All rep formats aside from the Konica Cup are played as 50 over cricket and with players not being exposed to different situations in 50 overs games fail to respond in certain games in the SCG cup and country week. It is no surprise that we are in div 4 and being bundled out early because players either have two tempos in CAW the crash and bash of the t20s or the conservative side in 80 over cricket.

As for this season it is the same old story with North flat track bullies who just pile on massive totals. All play like millionaires and showed against Belvoir when required to dig in on a wicket that isn't the equivalent of the highway nobody dug in and were bundled out for under 150. Tallangatta are definitely showing their aging side is about to collapse take out the poms and they are even more brittle a lot relies still on Ladey good for them Thommo is back playing though. Dederang are country bum hicks who should would be better served playing district cricket or probably just giving it up all together. Three way tie for relegation. Would definitely be a shame for New City if their kids weren't exposed to the highest level but is hard to see them winning a game with their run home. East I think have been outstanding. Solid in every game this year but their bowlers just keep getting the job done. Will be interesting to see how they perform come finals but they have a good balance of youth and experience. Belvoir have only beaten the 3 cellar dwellers and will be tested on their run home but I expect them to be around finals time.

Ok
I'm New on here but I am involved with a local District club.
Firstly I have alawys said sucsess breed sucsess you can't have a go at Nth Albury for being a great club. Its only natural that if a club like Lavi are fraying at the edges then the kids are going to start looking else where for a game. I heard recently that lavi only have one junior side (correct me if Im wrong) compared to Nths Juniors that are over flowing.
As for the Promotion/Relegation or in this case it might well be Relegation/Relegation.
I can not under stand why the CAW want district clubs playing against Provinsal Club if a disrict player wants to better themself then they are more than capable of going and signing up with a Prov club. Its beyond me that if a district club has a little bit of sucsess the CAW want to promote them so they can be easy beats next season.
It would be like telling the Ovens and Murray that the wodden spooners are out and The Premiers of TDFL & HFL are going to get promoted. This just dosent work the people around the clubs in district are happy doing what they do if they have a win along the way its even better but one good year shouldnt mean you go up the next year to have the living suit case belted out of them. Just my thoughts, sorry for spelling and Gramma

You may want to do a bit research before coming out and incorrectly gobbing off about a club that is mearly sucessful. In the last three season North has lost more games at home than they have away.....and yes they were rolled for 140 odd against Belvoir, but then were good enough to roll them for 110. Pretty sure both teams get to bat on the same wicket, unless you are implying that teams doctor wickets depending what week it is? Dederang are a bunch of young kids doing their best, I think most people would agree that the best District side when promoted, will more than likely be returning to District the year after, and thats not having a go at District but simply pointing out the gap between the top 6 Prov sides and everyone else.

Think you may also find that the comp next year will be a combination of 2 day and one day cricket, which will certainly help the rep players.

You are delusional mate.
To say people jumped ship at the Raiders is bullshit !
The ability to be unable to hang onto good young cricketers at the club sits fairly and squarely with the people who were running the club (or not) on and off the field.
It seems to be something they are very good at.

I suppose you know who all the people are "with substance" at the club, they are probably the same ones who will not pay their water bill at Birralee Park and nearly got the club kicked off it !

A few years ago thommo had 7 teams in the juniors with good kids coming through.

Put the blame on yourselves and the flowerpots than ran you into the ground.

P.S. I do think you are right on one front that Middo is doing a great job.
