The BaggyGreens Thread

Game over outplayed by the poms, 3 to 1 now. Wholesale changes are needed for Sydney. Ussie, Marnus, Richardson and Wetherald all out and bring in some kids to blood them for the future.

Nup 180 is not enough.
You were spot on. We were lulled into a false sense of security by thinking the Pommies had canned this bloody bazball. They then bit us on the arse with it. Neser and surprisingly Starc too panicked under pressure.

Starc will be virtually too old for the next ashes test series and Neser is not much chop other than just a back up bowler imo and he's also not part of the future either. Today was a warning sign and the Aussies really need to start a fresh by giving some of the current young talented fast bowlers around the country a crack now to get some experience under their belts otherwise expect more losses just like this one in the future as well I assure you, they need to act sooner than later.

Spot on. Not all doom and gloom for the future as I see it given the next gens you alluded to have history against the Pommies when they hammered them on the U19 tour of England in late '23 in three Youth Tests or the Junior Ashes as I call them, with these three quicks Charlie Anderson, Mahli Beardman, Callum Vidler playing a vital part in the dual wins. No doubt being maturer now they, plus spinner Raf MacMillan, will be putting pressure on the incumbents come the next Ashes in two yrs time, if not sooner.

So I hear Cricket Australia are having a sook over an estimated 10 to 13 million dollars of revenue lost due the early boxing day test match finish. All I'll say to this in response is tough bickies mate, if your well paid MCG ground curator is way too lazy to curate his own pitches from the MCG soil just like they use in the old days and prefers to use bowler friendly drop in pitches instead from an outside source then I have no sympathies for you or CA losing revenue and copping criticisms about it from the public.

Interesting this. Drop ins used to cop flack for being roads, now curators have turned them into minefields. They need to strike a happy medium, otherwise punters aint gonna spend their hard earned on 2/3 days matches. A sure way to kill Test cricket.

Given the connection between CRICKET AUSTRALIA and PLAYHQ, do you think we will see a dramatic rise in PLAYHQ fees next season to help recoop some of the millions of dollars lost this season

I no longer use PHQ as found them most unhelpful in certain areas. I now use PlayCricket almost exclusively for live/replay of matches and all relevant stats. So sorry I cant answer your question. Contact CA website direct.
