In continuing my series on my favourite players from around the world, I thought I'd make a thread in this forum for players from a range of countries.
In some ways, for me personally I think this will be the most interesting and educational thread as my knowledge of countries outside of...
I like being a spinner but the reality of the matter is I'm chucking down pies, and spinning being the art it is I'm struggling to find the time to invest in improving it. It is after all my third discipline after batting and (now) keeping.
I figured upping the pace would be an easier way to...
Along the same lines as my thread in the England forum, I have been reading a lot of history of the game recently and have been inspired to post some information about some of my favourite players to have graced the Test arena.
The players who will appear in this thread are not necessarily the...
So, what are your thoughts? Should the structural problems with Pakistani cricket be viewed as linked or separate to the corruption scandals?
What would you like to see included in the report to the ICC next month? Is it appropriate that the PCB be the entity submitting the report at all, and...
The die is cast. A deadline has been set, and the PCB has undertaken to submit a detailed report on combating corruption to the next ICC meeting in Hong Kong, on 26-30 June.
What this report will contain is anyone's guess. Not since the Cronje scandal has one country been so engulfed by the...
Well the last week here it's been topping out at around 14-18 degrees air temperature in the middle of the day, and the water temp has been 19-21 degrees, and I've been too much of a wimp to go for a surf.
Here on the east coast with the currents, the water tends to stay quite warm even into...
Well, I'm not techically an offspinner but the same principle applies.
As a very parttime bowler I have for many years made use of my left-handedness to bowl a bit of useful left arm orthodox spin. My problem is that as my career's progressed I've spent more time focusing on my batting. Also...
From an Australian perspective, I'm worried about what the 'IPL Effect' is going to do to the new competition replacing the Big Bash.
I find it difficult to talk neutrally on this subject because I am a cricket traditionalist of the highest order and have very little time for anything to do...
You can buy the last 6 years in eBook format various places on the web, together with other Wisden publications:
http://www.ebooks.com/SearchApp/SearchResults.net?term=Wisden&RestrictBy=&x=19&y=2
For earlier editions, I hunt around the web a fair bit - often there are scanned or plain text...
I have been reading a fair bit of history of the game - downloading old versions of Wisden onto my Kindle, and thumbing through overviews - and have learned a lot about players of the past that I previously knew little more of other than the name.
I thought I might post some brief vignettes on...
Only when Hauritz is there, and he probably won't be any more if he's no longer in the Test frame.
O'Keefe is the best of a bad lot. At least he's a proper first class player.
Hauritz and Harris miss the cut for the final squad of 13, very interesting.

Wow, that's pretty impressive. I've always admired surfers in the UK - that requires commitment.
I'm a firm believer that everyone in Australia should surf - it's not until you go overseas that you realise how lucky we are with our beaches.
Okay, so this competition is into its second round and already there has been some amazing cricket being played. Last week's match between Gujarat and Saurashtra produced some nailbiting cricket. After losing the first day due to rain, Saurashtra was sitting on a 130 run lead with 8 wickets in...
Okay, so it looks like Finn has the final bowling spot all tied up for England, but Tremlett and particularly Bresnan have been performing extremely well against Australia A in Hobart. They have been taking wickets and looking extremely dangerous with the movement they're getting.
How far away...
It is really getting to the point where you have to question whether any match involving Pakistan can be taken seriously. When you think back to series like the classic 1977-78 Pakistan tour of the West Indies it just breaks your heart to think about how far they've fallen.
England are doing extremely well in this match. Australia A was demolished for 230 in the first innings with Smith (59) and O'Keefe (66) the only batsmen to pass 50. The wickets were shared amongst England's second string quicks, Tremlett the best with 4/54 while Shahzad took 3/57.
The English...
