2022 International T20 World Cup Australia, October 16 - November 13.

I dont think Australia will go into the Cup with the strongest team as the squad was picked months ago so the ICC PR people could market our stars Pat Cummins, Davey Warner, Mitch Marsh, Josh Hazlewood, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis. The latter two specially, get all the accolades as 'match winners' but all too often they fail to deliver in major events such as world cups. So younger, more exciting, consistent players such as Cameron Green, Jhye Richardson, Josh Inglis, Nathan Ellis have to cool their heels until these aging veterans decide to call it a day..

Australia will need to lift their game if they're to defend their title, right now they're not playing like a team that has any confidence.

They have kept this side for too long. You only have to see past major event stats to see that our so called superstars, Maxwell and Stoinis have under performed. Marsh can be a match winner but like in Tests he is inconsistent while Finch is a white ball dead man walking.

Still not the limited over cricketer he once was though Ritchie because he's been under performing for ages now.
Age catches up with all of us mate. With a cricketer it means slower reflexes, less stamina and waning hand/eye co ordination.

True but he's still a young man in my books, i remember the 80's well and he was born in the mid eighties!

So was my son so I know Finchies age. In cricket terms he is old. He has been a fab servant and skipper for us but his used by date has arrived. Time for the next gens to take over as you dont want to introduce them too late after that hunger has cooled. Tim David has been handed his big break and will now become a regular. The same should happen to next cabs off the rank, Josh Inglis, Josh Phillippe, Ben McDermott, Nathan Ellis after the next ODI WC. I see Daniel Sams as taking over the Marcus Stoinis role but who do we have to do the Maxie role, that is an improvisor with the bat and sometime match winner plus a handy slow bowler. Perhaps Ashton Turner. Could Ashton Agar play that role too?

Finch is done at international level, you would think this tournament will be his last for Australia.

He's definitely cooked and i can;'t see the aussies defending their T20 world cup title either because they're also in a bad slump as well.

Need to win to keep the series alive.
Did not happen Sharkie. Fell short again. Maxwell failed again while his mate Stoinis had a rare good one with the ball , Our Test attack did not deliver this time. Hazlewood specially has gone off the boil. When will selectors grow a brain.. He and Cummins are NOT specialist white ball bowlers. Dumbfounded that Nathan Ellis is not in our attack.

One of the issues will be at the top of the order with Finch struggling. The middle order has had its issues of late as have the bowling attack. Tim David has been a good addition though and will certainly add some strength to the middle order if he can get going.

i dont know about anyone else but i get bored watching uae or namibia.
Just get to the good teams before spectators drop dead of boredom

I think some of the First Round matches have been quite good. The Associate sides have come a fair way, evidenced by some of the upsets we've seen so far in the tournament. Tomorrow's round of matches should be good with all teams on two points going into the last round of matches.

Cam Green in for an injured Inglis. Should have been picked in first place along with Ellis. Dead set last chance saloon for Finch and his Vic mate Maxwell. Stoinis too.

I predicted this when I said Australia will need to lift their game and they won't be winning this T-20 world cup

That was the tournament opener from hell. Starc, Cummins, Stoinis wicketless and all conceded almost 10 an over. The much hyped (and loved) Maxie top scores with a monster 28. Again we showed our ineptitude against left arm spin. Santner is no Herath. You are not going to win any cricket match with that mediocrity. Didnt we defeat the same Kiwi outfit early this year after trouncing them in the '21 WC final?
