Good start by Australia but India have asserted their dominance since then. They are 3/236, Gambhir is 199 not out now with Laxman scoring swiftly to move to 27.

Lee and Johnson have the wickets with Mitch the multiple wicket-taker with two. Stuart Clark has bowled well on return without luck and Watson has been okay but the rest have been a little expensive, all going at 4 or more runs per over.

Geez Gambhir is on fire, what a total dominance of the day, although I thought Tendulkar made alot more than 10 ;)

Because they always take extra players over on tour that never play, its in case White breaks down on the morning of the game

Besides there was no one better to take, the Aussies spin stocks are very weak with McGain the only decent one

Anyway quite enjoying more of Mark Waughs unbiased commentary, good to know the Aussies trying to unsettle batsmen with a verbal barrage and niggle is fine but if they dare respond then they should be taken care of. His defence of how Katich was perfectly innocent in tackling Gambhir and should never back down but Gambhir had no right to say anything was brilliant!

Haha oops, major typo. Gambhir was on 119 not out, not 199. :p

India made it 3/269 at stumps, making it their day despite losing two early wickets in the morning session. Gambhir is batting really well, 149 not out currently with Laxman on 54.

Australia started well but struggled after that. White was carted out of the attack with Lee and Johnson bowling their fair share of bad deliveries. Plenty of work to do tomorrow for the Australians.

Gambhir should be disciplined after elbowing Watson to the chest. No doubt he will get away with it. Strong start yet again by the Indians, geez we miss Warne and McGrath.

Guys,
I think that you guys are missing the point on why the aussies are playing less well known players.
They have to due to players who are currently out injured, and who are out for discipline reasons.
So the team have to play the players who are still a couple of years away from actually playing in the aussie team.
And no it won't happen if you drop one player who isn't as good for another who isn't as good.

Therefore to use an old cliche, it should make our squad stronger in the years to come.

Yer Spin King, if Australia doesnt get Beau Casson and Ashley Nofftke over there soon, Australia has no chance in hell in winning the series. In day one, you had sachin Tendulkar and Gautham Gambir just rip the aussie to shreds so we need Nofftke for us to have any chance in winning the series

You really think it was that much of a deal?

It was prety soft, and really, good on them for sticking up against the Aussies.

It sort of looks dumb if you are arrogant but no good! ;)

I agree with Diamonds. It was unnecessory for Gambhir to do that in the first place.
Cricket isn't a contact sport the last time I looked at the rules.

Gambhir has been spoken to by the Match Referee about his behaviour. I am sure that it will stop.

Seems like an Aussie tactic to try and get under his skin

Was stated in the paper that Katich had started getting stuck in earlier when Gambhir smashed him to the boundary, add to it Watsons earlier attempts and it nearly boiled over

But if he gets in trouble it will be typical, never do anything about the people who start it, always penalise those who react

Typical of you to blame the aussies for everything. :rolleyes:
