Re: Australia in the West Indies

Marsh is officially a freak :D
He looked good from ball one and only a miss timed shot ended up getting him out so the openers didn't really bother him too much which is a good sign

The QLD dud goes for a quacker when he misjudges a full straight ball and cant get his bat anywhere near and is judged absolutely plumb LBW

1/3 after 1 over from 21 minutes since the start of play :p

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Australia 3/44 in the 20th over at the moment. West Indies are well and truly on top thanks to a wonderful effort from Jerome Taylor, Taylor took 2/18 and Daren Powell 1/20 as the top three Australia batters fell pretty cheaply. Taylor removed Ponting once again, continuing his dominance of the Australia captain. Clarke and Hussey have a big rebuilding job to do for Australia to make a reasonable total.

Nice to see Ronchi playing, this is the chance for him to show us what he's capable of. A shame it is at the expense of Brad Haddin though.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Hussey and Clarke's 100-run partnership comes to an end. Clarke walks across his stumps, trying to flick the ball onto the leg-side but he is hit on the pad and that was going to hit leg stump.

Clarke gone for 56 and Australia are 4/135 from 38 overs. They have recovered well after a poor start. Cameron White is the new man in.

Hussey chips to long-on for 62, giving Bravo his first wicket of the game.

5/175 from 45 overs. Hopes is the new batsman.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Australia finish at 5/213, Cameron White scored 40 not out while James Hopes scored a run-a-ball 17. A decent recovery from Australia, 213 is not ideal but will still prove to be competitive as the pitch seems to have some uneven bounce. Australia have Clarke, Hussey and White to thank for getting to that score, without them they would have struggled to score more than 140.

West Indies will get their chance to reply after the innings break. They bowled well, Taylor in particular was impressive while Daren Powell kept the runs to a minimum. This is a good chance for them to tie the series up again. Chanderpaul is back but there's no Ramnaresh Sarwan so they are again short an experienced batter. Marshall, Fletcher and Pollard will have to contribute if West Indies are to win.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

They got to 100 but they were never in it. A poor selection of shots didn't really help either. West Indies scored 8/140 from 41 overs after some rain saw the amount of overs reduced by nine which was the same reduction applied for the amount of runs needed.

Brett Lee got rid of Xavier Marshall first ball and that gave Luke Ronchi a catch from his very first ball kept to in ODI cricket, a rare achievement. The rest of the Windies batting line-up gave little resistance with an array of poor shots summing up the West Indian innings. Only Shiv Chanderpaul showed any fight, he battled on patiently for 45 not out as he saw many of his partners fall by the way side. Daren Powell and Sulieman Benn also tried hard down the order but the game was well and truly over by then, if anything they added a bit of respectability and had they not contributed, they would have struggled to go past 100.

Michael Clarke did the damage with the ball, his ability to gather some turn from the wicket saw him take 3/26 with Shane Watson the other multiple wicket taker with 2/22. James Hopes, Mitch Johnson and Brett Lee were the other wicket getters.

Another impressive effort with the ball from Australia, they now take a 2-0 lead into game three and they'll only need one more victory to secure a series win. West Indies did well with the ball also, but their batting left something to be desired, hopefully they will regain Sarwan for the next game as they desperately need some experience at the top of the order.

Michael Clarke was Man of the Match.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Game 3 is underway, with some changes for either side. West Indies have dropped Kieron Pollard with Ramnaresh Sarwan coming back into the side, Patrick Browne has also been replaced as keeper by Denesh Ramdin. Andrew Symonds makes his long awaited return to the Australian team at the expense of Cameron White.

West Indies XI: *Chris Gayle, Xavier Marshall, Andre Fletcher, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Dwayne Bravo, +Denesh Ramdin, Darren Sammy, Sulieman Benn, Daren Powell, Jerome Taylor

Australia XI: Shaun Marsh, Shane Watson, *Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Andrew Symonds, Luke Ronchi, James Hopes, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Bracken.

Australia won the toss and sent the Windies in. The ball has been moving around a fair bit so far and consequently West Indies are off to a slow start. They are 1/12 in the 7th over.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Gayle run out in the worst way possible. Marshall drives but Johnson (the bowler) gets a hand on it and deflects onto the stumps with Gayle out of his crease.

1/86 in the 18th.

Re: Australia in the West Indies

Windies were all out for 223 in the 48th over; Gayle, Marshall, Sarwan, Chanderpaul and Ramdin all got good starts but couldn't go on, Nathan Bracken again doing the damage picking up 3/26 from 9 overs. The tail capitulated with Sammy, Benn, Powell and Edwards making 13 between them.

They started much better though, Shaun Marsh gone for a duck in the first over, he was cleaned up by Edwards and it was 1/1 after 1. From then on though it was all Australia as Ricky Ponting and Shane Watson put on 191 for the second wicket, Watson thrilling the crowd with fifteen fours and two sixes in his 126 off 122 balls. Ponting holed out to long on off Chris Gayle's bowling for 69, then Watson followed him trying to paddle it down behind him but got a top edge to Sarwan at short fine leg. By then though the game was all over and Michael Clarke with Andrew Symonds in company got the required runs. Darren Sammy was probably the best of the West Indian bowlers with 1/20.

Man of the Match was Shane Watson for his first ODI ton.

Now we turn our attention to St.Kitts on Friday night (AEST) for the first of two dead rubbers.
